At Hiro, we’re making it easier for developers to build the next generation of smart contracts and decentralized apps. We build developer tools for Stacks, an open-source network which makes Bitcoin programmable. With Hiro, developers can test and deploy smart contracts, spin up nodes and other server-side resources for scaling, and get access to monitoring and analytics. Our solutions provide developers with the convenience and reliability they need to be successful.

Hiro is funded and backed by more than $85 million from Union Square Ventures, Y Combinator, Lux Capital, Winklevoss Capital, Naval Ravikant, and others.

About the Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join our remote-first team to help empower developers building with Hiro’s developer tools. This role will be critical in the production of high-quality content for the Hiro documentation.

As our first technical content writer, you will join the Developer Growth team and work closely with our Documentation Lead.

What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate the developer learning journey by building educational content (e.g. tutorials, quick-start guides)
  • Distill complex, technical topics and turn them into easy to understand documentation
  • Continuously working to make documentation, tools used, and the processes effective, efficient, and automated
  • Test-drive Hiro’s products and its features to empathize with developers' needs, challenges, and the onboarding experiences
  • Work with product and engineers to ensure the product documentation is technically accurate and aligns with documentation needs and priorities
  • Work with engineers to gain in-depth understanding of protocol and product intricacies
  • Work with design on concise and helpful illustrations
  • Taking ownership of the documentation strategy and collaborating closely with the internal docs and product growth teams

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience with technical writing and editing, in particular with developer documentation
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and to understand source-code by reading it
  • Experience with a docs-as-code workflow, including OpenAPI/Swagger, Markdown, git, and GitHub
  • Experience building, testing, and automating RESTful API documentation
  • Experience in the crypto/blockchain space or a deep curiosity of the landscape
  • Bonus, but not required: hands on coding experience with a programming language like JavaScript

  • We’d love to hear from you even if you don’t have experience or interest in every bullet. There’s no perfect candidate and we want to find the right fit, even if it’s different than we imagine. We especially would like to meet underrepresented/underestimated candidates.

What We’ll Offer
