ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE
theSkimm is looking for an Editorial Campaign Writer. You'll be responsible for researching, brainstorming, writing, and fact-checking content for theSkimm's biggest annual editorial campaigns, from Women's History Month to the 2022 midterms. This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team at the company and reports into the Senior Editor of Content Development.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Work with the Senior Editor alongside the video, audio, and social teams to develop a cohesive cross-platform package for each campaign
• Write content for various platforms, along with pitching, researching, and fact-checking
• Build content in our CMS and perform QA testing
• Sift through insights studies and market research to help craft editorial campaigns in theSkimm's unique voice and editorial approach

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 2-3+ years of writing experience
• Strong journalistic judgment with a specific eye for fact-checking standards
• Experience in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to anticipate and respond quickly to change
• A general interest in politics, news, history, and pop culture... this role will cover all verticals and all topics covered on theSkimm's various platforms
• Experience crafting promotional packaging for content (think: email plugs, social posts, etc.)
• Ability to self-motivate and be a a team player across multiple departments
• Ability to write in theSkimm's voice
• Passion for theSkimm and its mission
• Bachelor's degree

This is a full-time role with flexibility for remote work. While our employees are continuing to work remotely throughout the remainder of 2021, we are excited to return to HQ in New York, NY next year. Beginning in January 2022, the office will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and NY metro area employees will come together in person a minimum of 3 days per month. All other days are up to the discretion of the employee and they may go in as often as they'd like.
We will require vaccinations for anyone coming to our office. We are following CDC recommendations for any additional boosters, and will always follow CDC and NY state guidance on wearing masks in the office.
