Position Summary

Transnetyx is seeking an experienced Contract Billing Specialist to own the end-to-end customer billing process for our growing global business. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys interpreting customer contracts, and understands the complexities of recurring subscription and contract-based billing.

Unlike traditional billing roles that focus primarily on processing invoices, this position requires critical thinking and the ability to analyze customer agreements, determine billing requirements, and collaborate across Commercial, Sales Operations, Customer Success, and Finance teams to ensure invoices are issued accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with exceptional attention to detail, analytical problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering an outstanding customer experience.  This fully remote position is open to U.S. candidates only who are located in Eastern or Central Time Zones.

What You'll Do

  • Review customer contracts, purchase orders, and amendments to prepare accurate invoices in accordance with contractual billing terms.
  • Interpret billing schedules, payment milestones, recurring charges, and contract modifications.
  • Manage recurring subscription billing, including renewals, upgrades, downgrades, and mid-term contract changes.
  • Process Time & Materials (T&M) invoices by reconciling labor, usage, and expense data against customer agreements.
  • Partner with Commercial, Sales Operations, Customer Success, and Finance teams to ensure customer contracts are accurately established for billing.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, customer questions, and invoice disputes promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate customer billing records and contract information within billing and CRM platforms.
  • Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and revenue reporting.
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging and assist with collections communications as appropriate.
  • Recommend process improvements that increase billing accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, audit requirements, and revenue recognition guidelines.
Qualifications

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is a bonus.  Equivalent professional experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • Candidates with 3–5 years of experience in contract or customer billing, with demonstrated progressive responsibility interpreting customer contracts and applying billing terms will be prioritized.

  • Experience managing recurring subscription billing.
  • Experience processing Time & Materials (T&M) or usage-based billing.
  • Strong proficiency with billing platforms such as NetSuite, Salesforce Billing, or comparable ERP/billing systems.
  • Experience utilizing customer billing portals such as ARIBA, Paymode, Coupa, or similar solutions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to reconcile and analyze financial data.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles related to billing and revenue.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within a SaaS, software, biotechnology, or technology organization.
  • Experience supporting a high-growth business.
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
  • Experience working with Salesforce CRM and integrated billing platforms.
  • Experience supporting audit or SOX compliance initiatives.
  • Experience working within ticketing or workflow management systems (Jira or similar) to prioritize billing requests.

What Makes You Successful

You are someone who:

  • Thinks critically rather than simply processing transactions.
  • Can confidently interpret contract language and translate it into accurate customer invoices.
  • Enjoys collaborating across multiple business functions.
  • Builds strong working relationships with both internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally.
  • Takes ownership of your work while continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes.
  • Thrives in an environment where priorities evolve and collaboration is essential.

Work Schedule & Training

This role partners closely with colleagues across the United States and Europe.

To support a successful onboarding experience, the selected candidate will work a modified schedule during the initial training period of up to six months. During this time, the workday will generally begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. Eastern Time (or earlier, as business needs require) to maximize collaboration with team members located in the Central European Time (CET) zone.

Following the training period, the schedule is expected to transition to standard U.S. business hours based on business and team needs.

Candidates are required to be located in Eastern or Central Time Zones.
