Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for a Corporate Action Analyst to join our PostTrade team. Our global trading platform supports trading across many asset classes and geographies, and the PostTrade team designs and operates the systems and processes that reconcile the firm’s trading with our various brokers and counterparties. Due to the high volume of trades and complexity of the system, we rely heavily on automation and are looking for candidates who have exceptional attention to detail. In addition to reconciling trades and positions around the globe, the PostTrade team collaborates with multiple teams to research corporate actions, maintain commissions programs, and track all costs incurred by our trading.

Being a member of the PostTrade team means working as part of a tight-knit, highly productive team. Corporate actions are a growing priority for the team and we're looking for someone who loves utilizing technology and automation tools to work on a wide scope of operational projects.

Responsibilities

  • Support the full lifecycle of mandatory events, voluntary events, and dividends from announcement to settlement.
  • Analyze corporate action events from external data sources and verify accuracy of information.
  • Monitor all upcoming corporate actions to verify proper processing throughout HRT’s infrastructure.
  • Investigate stock and cash reconciliation discrepancies daily and ensure all issues are properly resolved.
  • Interact with counterparties to settle corporate action proceeds from fails and stock loan borrow contracts.
  • Effectively manage and communicate risk around events and liaise with our Algo, Compliance, and Operations teams to optimize accordingly.
  • Interface with clearing houses, prime brokers, and counterparties on voluntary and election-based actions.
  • Identify and review corporate action event taxability, ensuring key stakeholders are appropriately updated.
  • Collaborate with teams across the firm to identify opportunities for new and improved workflows around the processing, settlement, and reconciliation of corporate action events.
  • Perform root cause analysis on problematic corporate action processing to increase automation.

Profile

  • You take ownership of your work and are willing to admit and learn from mistakes.
  • You can debug, analyze, and troubleshoot problems under fast turnaround times.
  • You thrive when working with people who challenge you.
  • You are analytical by nature and have a high attention to detail.
  • You are excited to work independently in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a corporate action operations role.
  • Understanding of brokerage operations.
  • Strong knowledge of asset servicing - mandatory and voluntary corporate actions, and dividends. Knowledge of dividend tax withholding and processing of proxy votes is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of corporate action events, procedures, specific risk, and market practice.
  • Experience in stock borrow lending and settlement impacts on corporate actions.
  • Experience with the post-trade life cycle of equities, fixed income, and options.
  • Experience with external relationship management, including technology vendors, prime brokers, counterparties, etc.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.
  • Experience with Bloomberg or Markit is a plus.
  • Knowledge of UNIX operating systems is preferred (we use Linux).

The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $140,000 per year, based on job-related skills and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.
