THE ROLE

Within the Corporate Development team, we work across a broad set of strategic initiatives spanning investor relations, financial analysis, market and competitive mapping, growth strategy, capital allocation, and M&A sourcing and execution.

We are looking for a Manager to join the Corporate Development team who will primarily focus on supporting and helping scale our investor relations function, while also playing an active role in growth strategy initiatives and M&A execution. This role will work closely with the Head of Corporate Development on both external investor communications and internal strategic and transaction-related priorities.

The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex strategic and financial topics clearly to senior internal and external stakeholders. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner closely with the Head of Corporate Development to help shape and deliver the company’s strategic narrative to investors, including ownership and continuous refinement of core investor materials and value creation messaging
  • Lead the analytical and content development aspects of the investor relations workstream, including preparation of shareholder communications, performance updates, and value creation analyses
  • Build and maintain high-quality financial models and analyses to support strategic decision-making and investor communication, including value creation analysis, returns on invested capital, and pro forma impacts to Sotheby’s P&L and long-range plan
  • Develop deep expertise in Sotheby’s business model, operating drivers, and financials in order to communicate complex topics clearly and credibly to investors and internal senior stakeholders
  • Work cross-functionally across Finance, Strategy, Operations, Legal, HR, and business leadership to gather, synthesize, and translate information into clear, high-quality materials for internal leadership, governance forums, and shareholders
  • Partner with the Corporate Development team to support the execution of the firm’s M&A strategy, including assisting with the evaluation of potential opportunities aligned with the company’s long-term growth objectives
  • Support the strategic and financial analysis of inorganic opportunities, including market mapping, strategic fit assessment, and valuation work
  • Assist with transaction execution activities, including financial analysis and coordination of diligence materials in partnership with internal stakeholders
  • Support the preparation of strategic, financial, and transaction-related materials for internal decision-making and governance processes
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Corporate Development and investor communications toolkit, including processes, templates, KPI frameworks, pipeline management, and value tracking
  • Bring an entrepreneurial, owner-oriented mindset to ambiguous and cross-functional initiatives, operating with a high degree of analytical rigor, autonomy, and accountability

IDEAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelors Degree
    • MBA a plus
  • 4+ years professional experience in corporate development, M&A, investment banking, or top-tier consulting / transaction advisory (e.g., Big Four) preferred
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills a must
  • Comes with a strong understanding of financial statements and metrics drivers
  • Ability to understand the nuances of Sotheby's business model
  • Proficient in excel and power point
  • Communication, interpersonal and presentation skills needed across various internal and external collaborators, partners, vendors, etc

The proposed base salary for this position ranges from $145,000-$165,000. In addition to base salary successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus, as well as a competitive benefits package. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
