Our Consumer Apps division — including Trailforks, Gaia GPS, and MapMyFitness — is looking for a Creative Director, a role that blends creative leadership with active, day-to-day design work. You’ll collaborate closely with designers, product partners, and growth teams to bring our brands and products to life, refining creative based on what resonates with our community. 

This role is ideal for a senior creative who thrives in lean, high-ownership environments—someone who pairs strong design craft with a data-informed mindset and a willingness to experiment. Help us create experiences that inspire people to live an active, healthy lifestyle and experience the great outdoors.

Responsibilities
  • Champion a performance-focused, curiosity-driven creative culture where exploration, collaboration, and craft guide the work.
  • Shape and evolve the brand systems, visual language, and campaign creative that support our consumer apps, partnering with our Product Design team to ensure a unified look and feel across app surfaces, marketing channels, and digital experiences.
  • Balance hands-on design with thoughtful team leadership, providing clear feedback and direction while actively producing work.
  • Partner closely with product, growth marketing, editorial, and data to understand goals, identify opportunities, and ensure creative aligns with user needs and measurable outcomes.
  • Translate business and product goals into intuitive, user-centered design systems that support activation, retention, and overall growth.
  • Concept and execute digital-first creative across email, social, in-app surfaces, landing pages, onboarding flows, and other marketing and product touchpoints.
  • Present creative rationale with clarity and intention, helping teams understand how the work supports audience insight and business priorities.
  • Stay up to date on design trends, tools, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled workflows that improve speed and creative exploration.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in design and art direction, ideally in marketing of a digital-first consumer products or app-based experiences.
  • Success in leveraging AI tools for both operational gains and creative development.
  • Proven experience building scalable, multi-brand design systems
  • Ability to concept and execute motion-first creative — including video, animation, and UGC-style content — optimized for modern performance channels (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, PMax, UAC).
  • A hands-on portfolio demonstrating strong craft, thoughtful systems, and examples of creative informed by insight or testing.
  • Experience mentoring or managing creative team members, with the ability to provide clear feedback and elevate team output.
  • Comfort using data and experimentation to guide creative decisions, measure effectiveness, and refine ideas.
  • Proficiency with core design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Strong verbal and visual communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams.

What We Offer:

Entirely remote jobs that could be performed in Colorado: Employees can expect to be paid a salary of  between $100,000 to $130,000.  Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission . Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away,  sick leave, and more.  This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors
