Description:

As an independent agency, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) for the District of Columbia is dedicated to continually improving the administration of criminal justice in the city. The mission of the CJCC is to serve as the forum for identifying issues and their solutions, proposing actions, and facilitating cooperation that will improve public safety and the related criminal and juvenile justice services for District of Columbia residents, visitors, victims and offenders.


Commission membership: 

The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council shall include the following members: (1) Mayor, District of Columbia (Chair); (2) Chairman, Council of the District of Columbia; (3) Chairperson, Judiciary Committee, Council of the District of Columbia; (4) Chief Judge, Superior Court of the District of Columbia; (5) Chief, Metropolitan Police Department; (6) Director, District of Columbia Department of Corrections; (7) Corporation Counsel for the District of Columbia; (8) Director, Department of Human Services' Youth Services Administration; (9) Director, Public Defender Service; (10) Director, Pretrial Services Agency; (11) Director, Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency; (12) United States Attorney for the District of Columbia; (13) District of Columbia Corrections Trustee; (14) Director, Federal Bureau of Prisons; (15) Chair, United States Parole Commission; (16) Chair, District of Columbia Financial Responsibility and Management Assistance Authority ("Authority"); and (17) Board Member for Public Safety, Authority.
