Role Overview:

Could you be our next Data Analyst I? American Income Life is looking for a Data Analyst I to join the team!

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the analytics team by creating basic reports, assisting with dashboards, performing data validation, and contributing to analytical projects under guidance. This role focuses on building foundational analytical skills, understanding business processes, and developing technical thinking using cloud-based governed data.

This is a remote / work-from-home position.

What You Will Do:

  • Create and maintain standard reports, basic dashboards, and ad-hoc analyses as requested.
  • Assist with data extraction, cleaning, validation, and organizing existing reporting.
  • Support larger analytics projects under guidance and contribute visual components or slides for reporting.
  • Use cloud-based data platforms and datasets according to governance standards, following documented processes and naming conventions.
  • Document queries, logic, outputs, business requirements, and expected outcomes.
  • Listen to stakeholder questions, gather and analyze business needs, and translate them into technical or functional specifications.
  • Understand business processes, terminology, and key metrics needed in projects and analytics.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and technical partners, relaying business needs to senior analysts and IT teams to ensure project goals are understood and met.
  • Summarize findings in short written or verbal narratives.

  • Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously under guidance
  • Support assigned tasks within larger team initiatives

  • Work with senior analysts to clarify metric definitions and business rules
  • Perform validation checks to ensure reporting and visuals are accurate
  • Escalate data quality issues to appropriate resources
  • Communicate project updates and questions to senior team members
  • Communicate findings to analytics teammates
  • Build expertise in storytelling with data for non-technical stakeholders

What You Can Bring

  • Bachelors in Analytics, Statistics, Math, CS, IS, Business or related field OR equivalent experience
  • 0–2 years analytics or reporting experience
  • Basic SQL knowledge
  • Exposure to Tableau (or similar BI tools)
  • Experience with the following preferred: Tableau (basic charts and dashboards), Tableau Prep (basic data cleaning), SQL (basic queries, joins, and filters), and Python/R (introductory scripting)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong curiosity and desire to learn
  • Basic understanding of cloud-based concepts such as governed datasets and source systems
