Mending is a team of healthcare nerds, software engineers, product designers, direct primary care doctors, health technology operators, and more. Our mission is to craft better health by accelerating the future of care.
Today, our products focus on Direct Primary Care (DPC). We build the technology and infrastructure that helps employers, health plans, TPAs, brokers, and DPC practices work together at scale. Our data platform integrates DPC into health plans in ways that lower costs, improve access, and deliver better outcomes for members. In doing so, we bring more patients into DPC practices while preserving what makes the model work.
Our aspirations for this roleWe’re looking for a claims-fluent analytical expert to take Mending from reporting on insights to being the reference point on DPC and network benefits.
Mending sits on claims, eligibility, and DPC data across TPA (Third-party administrators), employers, DPC practices, and health plans. Today, we already have the foundational layer of reporting for different audiences and alignment on core data definitions. The next step is to establish benchmarks, turn raw data into customized insights, and build the proof points for the commercial team to accelerate the next sale or upsell through data.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to own a custom narrative for a large employer thinking about expanding the benefit to dependents, while also building out a case study that Mending will present at a conference in front of doctors discussing DPC usage trends in the last year. You know how to prioritize across accounts and understand your internal counterparts so the deliverable leads with the narrative and the right data supports it.
We're open to a senior individual contributor who wants to dig in and tell us what we should do next or someone earlier in their career who will get directional guidance and be left to run with it.
Let’s dive into the detailsBuild and maintain the reporting our clients see: savings, utilization, PMPM trend, member attachment, and provider engagement across different client segments.
Own the internal analytics layer in Metabase and SQL. Define the metrics, keep them consistent, and make them self-serve for the rest of the org.
Lead the creation of analytical insights that sell and retain; ROI models for presales, case studies and benchmarks from client data, and the published research that makes Mending the reference point on DPC and network benefits.
Partner with engineering on the data model and, over time, on ingestion and pipeline work for new TPA and health plan integrations.
Work independently in SQL, Python, R, SAS, Tableau, Excel, or similar tools to extract, transform, analyze, visualize, and communicate complex healthcare data.
4+ years (specialist) or 6+ years (senior specialist) working with healthcare claims and eligibility data; 834/835/837 files, PMPM/utilization analysis, CPT/ICD/NDC codes.
Strong with data and crafting narratives - you know how to use SQL to pull the right data, when to use the median vs mean to craft the right narrative, and publish everything into a BI tool for repeatable use.
Strong understanding of healthcare cost and utilization drivers - you can take a trend, benchmark it, build the ROI case, and turn it into a recommendation for a benefit lead to take action on
