Trepp’s Data Platform Team is responsible for the distributed systems and datalake architectures that power our entire product suite. As a member of the Data Platform Team, you will focus on building robust foundations and scalable frameworks that empower our developers and ensure platform stability. Beyond infrastructure, you will play a key role in building and maintaining reliable, high-quality data products that serve as the backbone for business-critical insights. We own the end-to-end data lifecycle—from ingestion frameworks to observability stacks—allowing Trepp to scale effectively in a data-driven market.

We are looking for a code-first Data Engineer to join our NYC office and help transform complex data requirements into elegant, automated solutions.

 What You’ll Do:
  • Build & Enhance: Collaborate with senior engineers to build, maintain, and scale our core data ingestion and pipeline frameworks.

  • Own the Architecture: Dive deep into our platform’s design to contribute meaningfully to technical discussions and high-impact project implementations.

  • Ship Quality Code: Translate complex technical requirements into clean, testable, and scalable Python code and data workflows.

  • Innovate & Research: Participate in "Proof of Concept" (PoC) initiatives to test-drive new open-source tools and cutting-edge methodologies.

  • Stability First: Champion engineering best practices—like robust unit testing and thorough documentation—to keep the platform rock-solid as we grow.

 Requirement:
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in data or software engineering. We highly value relevant internships, research assistantships, or significant academic projects as part of this experience.

  • Coding: Strong proficiency in Python (preferred), Java, or Scala, with an emphasis on writing clean, testable code

  • Data: Solid understanding of SQL and relational database concepts and data modeling.

  • Engineering: Familiarity with Git workflows, SDLC, and basic CI/CD principles.

  • Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to explain the "why" behind your technical decisions.

 What Gives You An Edge:
  • Cloud: Familiarity with AWS services (S3, Lambda, EMR, or Glue).

  • Big Data: Hands-on experience or academic exposure to Apache Spark.

  • Modern Tech: Interest or experience with LLMs and AI-driven data workflows.
