With this continued growth, Onebrief is able to make an impact where it matters most.

Position Overview

Battle Road is building the future of operational simulation.

Using AtomEngine, our proprietary cloud-based simulation platform, we model complex environments, interactions, and decisions so leaders can test high-stakes scenarios before committing in the real world.

We combine deep experience from the video game industry with defense-grade modeling to make the world playable.

As our platform scales, we are building our first dedicated data engineering function.

We are hiring a Data Engineering Lead to architect and lead that effort.

Why This Role Exists

AtomEngine generates extremely rich simulation data including event streams, telemetry, state snapshots, and scenario metadata.

Today, much of that data is underutilized.

We are investing in a scalable cloud data platform that will:

  • Capture and normalize high-volume simulation outputs

  • Enable scenario comparison and replay

  • Support analytics and AI workflows

  • Improve explainability and traceability

  • Power internal and customer-facing insights

This is a greenfield opportunity to design and own the intelligence backbone of a growing simulation platform.

What you will do

As Data Engineering Lead, you will build and lead Battle Road’s data platform from the ground up.

You will:

  • Architect our AWS-based data warehouse and ingestion pipelines

  • Transform high-volume simulation outputs into clean, trusted datasets

  • Establish schema standards and data contracts with engineering

  • Enable scenario replay, comparison, and traceability

  • Support analytics and AI workflows across the platform

  • Hire and develop a high-performing data engineering team

Within your first year, you will stand up a scalable warehouse, integrate core simulation feeds, and deliver reliable insight into product usage and simulation behavior.

You will be modeling a dynamic world state, not just logs.

This is simulation-grade telemetry with high-dimensional, fast-changing data.

What We Look For
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or Data Platform Engineer.

  • Deep experience building production-grade batch and streaming pipelines

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and at least one data processing framework.

  • Experience with cloud-based data infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Experience designing schemas and modeling complex systems

  • Experience leading or mentoring engineers

  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to reason about data as a product, not a byproduct.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High-volume telemetry or event streaming systems

  • Gaming, simulation, or physics-based platforms

  • Versioned or replayable data systems

  • Exposure to AI or ML workflows

Physical Work Requirements
  • You can sit, use a computer, and a phone for extended periods of time.

  • Work is primarily performed indoors.
