The Opportunity

Heron builds the intelligence layer for financial operations — using AI and LLMs to automate document-heavy workflows for lenders, banks, and fintechs. Our technology turns messy, unstructured data (like PDFs, bank statements and much more) into clean, reliable insights that power billions in credit decisions.

As a Data Operations Analyst, you’ll sit at the intersection of AI, data, and human judgment. You’ll help ensure our systems perform at world-class accuracy, improve the feedback loops between humans and models, and build the operational foundations that allow our technology to scale.

You won’t just process data — you’ll help train, test, and improve the product that does.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, and data scientists to diagnose real-world edge cases, prototype automation ideas, and make our workflows smarter and faster.

Please note: this role starts as a 6-week contracting position, with intent to hire to a full-time employee.

What You’ll Do1. Operational Intelligence
  • Review and validate financial data to ensure accuracy and integrity for core AI-powered workflows.

  • Diagnose complex parsing failures and uncover root causes to improve model performance.

  • Help design feedback loops between Data Ops and Engineering that drive faster product iteration.

2. Product & Tooling Improvement
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to refine our internal Retool-based review systems.

  • Test new features, prototype automation, and document improvements that reduce review time.

  • Act as a first-line QA for new product launches and parsers (e.g., broker, insurance, or lending data).

3. Process Automation & Efficiency
  • Identify recurring manual steps and propose or build small automations to eliminate them.

  • Support in designing metrics dashboards that measure SLAs, accuracy, and operational throughput.

4. Customer Impact
  • Support customer success by ensuring reviewed data meets accuracy and turnaround SLAs.

  • Collaborate with GTM and Product teams to surface insights from operational data that improve user experience.

What We’re Looking For
  • Analytical & Curious: You’re good at breaking down ambiguous problems and spotting patterns in data.

  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with digital tools, automation, or low-code platforms (Retool experience a plus).

  • Fast Learner: You pick up new systems quickly and enjoy figuring things out without needing detailed instructions.

  • Detail-Oriented but Strategic: You care about accuracy but also about how to fix systems that break.

  • Bias to Action: You don’t just point out problems — you propose and test solutions.

Educational background: Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Analytics, or similar (but we value mindset over degree).

Why This Role Matters
  • You’ll directly influence the reliability and scalability of Heron’s AI platform.

  • You’ll help teach our systems to interpret data better, faster, and more accurately.

  • You’ll act as an internal bridge between product development and customer delivery — translating what’s happening on the ground into insights that shape product roadmap and model design.

  • You’ll gain exposure to real-world AI deployment in financial services, learning what it takes to scale automation safely.

Growth Pathways

We hire with a long-term view. Outstanding contractors and interns often convert to full-time roles, with potential growth in:

  • Product Operations or Product Management – drive feedback loops and system improvement.

  • Data & Quality Analytics – specialize in data accuracy, metrics, and operational insights.

  • Customer Operations & Strategy – focus on partner delivery, success, and scaling workflows.

  • Operational Leadership – lead teams improving speed, accuracy, and automation adoption.

Why You’ll Love Working Here
  • You’ll work on real problems, not hypothetical cases — helping make AI systems more reliable.

  • You’ll collaborate with a small, fast-moving team that values autonomy and learning.

  • You’ll see your ideas and improvements shipped into production, impacting real customers.

  • You’ll get exposure to multiple disciplines — fintech, AI, data engineering, and product design.

If you’re curious, analytical, and excited to bridge the gap between technology and operations, this role is for you.
