Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008.  Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.

We are seeking an experienced Data Operations Lead/Manager to join our technology team in order to support data-driven decision-making across our firm. The role will focus on building/leading a team to support our Market Data platform in the cloud and later expand into covering our new Data Warehouse once live. This role will cover platform client request management, an intake process build out, pipeline monitoring, data quality processes, SLA assignment/monitoring, AD group transition from by user permissions, updates to users on changes or new data, require coordination with the platform team engineers and support on technical issues/delays. The role requires prior experience in this function and an ability to work independently on projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire & Manage Team: Work with Head of Data Technology to staff team with proper resources
  • Client Management: Ability to speak with Technology, Portfolio and Business teams to understand data usage, new requests, issues and manage properly
  • Cloud Data Platform Experience: Experience managing operations for Data Platform in cloud required (AWS Preferred – familiarity with pipeline components and technologies needed)
  • Data Quality/Pipeline Monitoring: Prior experience with data quality processing, pipeline monitoring required to capture delays, data issues/gaps, proactive communication, align with Support
  • In Take/Demand Mngt: Ops team will eventually handle the requests and need to help build an intake process to manage
  • Coordination with Sourcing: Experience coordinating with a vendor sourcing function needed to ensure onboardings and approval process is clear and run with tracking of requests/priority
  • Access Controls: Role will be involved with enabling users to access data and need to understand IAM processes, AD group usage, AWS access points

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Financial services experience necessary (Some understanding of Portfolio Management, Trading, Risk, Ref Data, Operations, etc.)
  • Buy side experience (Multi Strat/Hedge Fund Preferred)
  • Experience building and leading data operations teams
  • AWS cloud experience with services like S3, lambda, Cron, event bridge and operational experience in the cloud
  • Development and deployment process ownership experience
  • BI/Power BI integration experience a plus
  • Python & SQL expertise
  • System & Pipeline architecture understanding
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication skills to work with stakeholders across technology, investment, and operations teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Hiring and Management experience
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Salary Range
$175,000$200,000 USD
