Job Description

The DigIts -Technology Division is looking for an experienced Data Center Facility Engineer. You will work with our networking and systems administration teams in our data centers and travel between our Lyndhurst and Middletown NJ locations. This role will be part of a highly experienced team and be provided new challenges on a daily basis. This is a hands-on position in a 24X7X365 enviornment where the individual will be challenged to deliver high quality work in a dynamic environment, with the following responsibilities.

 

You will:

  • Provide professional service and support {back up} to the General Manager and to internal staff members at the Lyndhurst/Middletown Data Center.
  • Assist General Manager on the day to day activities, maintenance and projects involving the physical installation of facility infrastructure upgrades, cabinets, cabling and will trouble shoot facility related issues.
  • Oversee and coordinate the day to day activities, maintenance, and installation of all environmental equipment required to support two 24x7x365 data center facilities.
  • Provide oversight of all aspects of critical electrical infrastructure: ATS, UPS, Generators, switchgear, fire detection and suppression, electrical distribution expansion, etc.
  • Maintain schedules for facility related preventive and corrective maintenance; shipping and receiving; obtains quotes from appropriate contractors; oversees scheduling and execution of work.
  • Monitor and report on Critical Power Systems.
  • Maintain overall Data Center cleanliness and appearance. 

 

You have:

  • 8-10 years’ experience working in a data center environment; knowledge of facility services and procedures; strong technical understanding; excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral; highly developed problem-solving skills; an understanding of the principles of; heat transfer; fluid properties, various air conditioning and electrical technologies/systems, battery maintenance and the use of specialized tools.
  • Working knowledge of critical systems such as: UPS, PDU’s, ATS/STS, Switchgear, Generators, Chillers, CRAC units, Air Handlers, etc. Data Center maintenance and operation experience is highly desired.
  • A strong foundation in related mechanical/electrical fields.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to interact with others on a technical level.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able to read gauges and meters.
  • Ability to terminate copper & fiber cabling
  • Ability to test and troubleshoot network connectivity
