We are looking for a data scientist to be the founding member of our Product Analytics team, define its mission, and bring value to ActionIQ and its clients through gaining a quantitative understanding of our platform and clients, and helping us make better data driven decisions. In this role you will work with other Data Scientists, directly with our CTO, and closely with ActionIQ's Product, Engineering and Design teams.

What you'll do

  • Produce actionable insights that help set the strategic direction with ActionIQs leadership team
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers provide guidance on making data driven decisions
  • Build pipelines and dashboards tracking Business KPIs and Engineering metrics
  • Create models for business goals, understand the levers involved, and educate teams on how best to use those levers
  • Own and solve complex data-related problems using some of the most diverse datasets available

Requirements

  • You are an expert in and passionate about machine learning, including deep familiarity with state-of-the-art techniques
  • You are curious, dependable, and inquisitive with an eagerness to dive into data and uncover insights and patterns
  • You are an expert at building data pipelines and are self-sufficient in getting the data you need
  • You have 3+ years of professional engineering experience working within a product analytics team with technologies (SQL, Python, or R) and cloud platforms (GCP or AWS)
  • You have experience collaborating with product and engineering teams, and have a track record of influencing their decision making using insights you’ve generated
  • You care about a culture of constant learning and improvement
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Statistics, Math, or Physics with relevant experience. Masters/PhD is a plus.

The versatility of its tech stack reflects ActionIQ’s ethos of experiment-based innovation, where developers are encouraged to present demos, join lunch and learn sessions and participate in the bi-annual hackathon. For those with such entrepreneurial inclination, “Bring your sense of adventure and curiosity,” Graham said.

    Building The Bridge Between Data and Product
    Data shapes business operations at ActionIQ, which makes Data Scientist Amanda Pogue’s embedded role unique on the product team. It’s part of the company’s goals of bringing product analytics to the forefront of product release, like the new customer-facing dashboard. “It gives me the opportunity to better enable the product and design teams to use data in their day-to-day,” she said. With her transition to product, Pogue gains better insight into the needs of the business and the product development process. It also presents an avenue to advocate for data projects in the product pipeline.

    PIONEERING QA
    Innovative Work Backed By High Quality Standards
    As ActionIQ’s first embedded QA engineer, Tina Tyavlovskaya sought not only to replace the company’s third-party testing process but to shed the perception of QA as one that impedes progress. “QAs define quality standards across the engineering org and provide guidance on how to meet these standards,” she said. Moving QA in-house required a revamped strategy: a “priority-based test scope approach” with a mix of automated and commercial tools to meet team requirements and generate better coverage. There’s also the migration to Cypress, a more efficient tool for parallel testing and development.
