The freight and logistics industry relies heavily on data and analytics, which is why we are growing our Data and Analytics team in big ways now and into the next year. As a part of this exciting growth efforts, we are seeking a Data Visualization Engineer to join our team.

What You'll Do In this Role:

• Partner closely with key stakeholders throughout the business to understand the fundamental concepts of Transfix and what make our shippers and carriers successful
• Evaluate our existing suite of dashboards to determine new ones that need to be built and redesign existing ones so that they are more engaging, impactful, and actionable 
• Leverage Looker, our BI platform to enhance, build and redesign dashboards by leveraging custom visualizations
• Build at least one high visibility high-level data dashboard for our C-suite executive team monthly
• Use data and reporting to help improve workflow and inter-team collaboration
• Collaborate with stakeholders across our data, product, sales, marketing, and operations functions; ask insightful questions to get to the root of their needs and help them achieve their goals through visual insights
• Construct engaging data visualizations that are effortless for the end-user to understand 
• Design custom reports and interfaces to address specific needs of the business
• Over time, support and train members of the data team on ideal data visualization, presentation, and storytelling

How You Know this Role is For You:

• You have 3+ years of professional experience building interactive dashboards and workflow reports 
• You have 3+ years of professional experience writing SQL
• You are a true data storyteller who loves turning data into actionable insights
• You are a skilled communicator and will help stakeholders scope requirements to tailor visualizations specific to their need 
• You are methodical and analytical, but you’re also always looking for opportunities for improvement and expansion - left and right brain oriented
• You are a team player and is excited to collaborate
• You understand your personal technical ability, and if you don’t know the answer, you’re not afraid to ask for help finding the answer
• You’re not afraid to take a creative approach and have a track record of success in thinking outside of the box to solve complex problems
• You have an existing portfolio of engaging data visualizations or dashboards you can share

You’re a Mile Ahead If (You’ll learn this here if you don’t know it!):

• You understand how to leverage d3 libraries and javascript templates to create custom visualizations
