Meet Native. We’re building a marketplace connecting global brands that have questions to a massive network of locals able to capture data that answers them. Every day in cities like Bangkok and Buenos Aires, Johannesburg and Jakarta, hundreds of thousands of users are leveraging the on-demand economy to change the face of market research and we’re growing fast.

 

We’re looking for some of the most talented, quick-learning, and capable new team members we can find to help us organise, analyze and apply our data at the ground floor. That’s where you come in.

 

Here’s the gist. We’re looking for someone who is as excited about building dashboards as she is rolling up her sleeves to figure out how to leverage our data to optimize our growth trajectory. Someone tech savvy, who knows what life is like in emerging markets - and wants more of it. Someone who doesn’t just want a job that pays the bills: they want a job to write home about.

We’re a venture-backed startup that’s pulled talent from some of the leading rideshare and food delivery companies like Uber to build a network of locals in over 80 countries and 27 languages around the world to capture data, in-person, at scale. Whether it’s delivering ‘street view’ maps or providing actionable market intelligence to brands, we’re leveraging the on-demand economy to sense the world from the ground up.

 

Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies are a big part of this. We offer them what they need most: store by store data they can trust. We spot something wrong: they can go there to fix it. Today we are working with some of the world’s largest brands with the aim of ultimately democratizing research to every microbrewery and confectionery in the world that wants it. A feedback loop on what’s happening in the real world.

We’re doers first. Roll up your sleeves, take action, and own the result. Rice bowls be damned; you don’t move fast if you’re not willing to get cracking no matter where you sit.

 

 

Here’s the Role.

You’re going to redesign and optimize Native’s Operations dashboards, consolidating and improving the way in which Native visualizes and uses data. You will help the team develop clear and well-defined metrics across our departments to enable us to identify areas for improvement, and accelerate our operational efficiencies.

 

Everyone At Native Needs to Be: 

  • Data Fluent. We’re in the data delivery business. If by data you mean pie charts, that’s not enough. We produce, move and manage high volume, high complexity data for daily decision-making by local, national and global corporate actors. Demonstrated fluency with data is crucial.

  • Multicultural/Travel Prone. We’re the world’s smallest multinational corporation and (most days) we like it that way. Aside from having offices all over the world our team is incredibly international. We aim to reflect the cultural patchwork of where we work while retaining fluency between emerging markets and developed ones. If you insist on spelling Colombia with a ‘u’ there’s a better than even chance you’re not a fit. 

  • Tech Comfortable. We’re a tech company; that’s what we do. If the thought of figuring out how to translate what a customer wants into a schema that works in a technical system and scripting it either scares you or drives you to demand an intern, you’re not a good fit. But if the idea of being able to actually jump directly into product meetings or Slack channels to express ‘what if we could x it would deliver serious value worth y’ makes you feel empowered, we’re thinking the same thing.

  • Scrappy. You’ll start with getting things done on day 1. We’re still a startup and you’ll need to like/want that. It does mean crazy hours sometimes, but your impact will be outsized since you’re joining at the ground floor. You need to be ok with that.

 

But You In Particular Need to Be:

  • Growth Oriented. Aside from working on dashboards and helping Native become more data driven, you need to identify opportunities for more rapid growth. That means rolling up your sleeves, thinking creatively, and proposing solutions for ways in which we can use our data more effectively for decision making. If that means designing experiments, diving into the world of data science, and providing bespoke solutions to teams, then that’s what you’ll need to do. 

  • Technically Minded. This role requires an in-depth understanding of big data and how to deal with it. You'll need to know how big data processes work, how to extract data from different sources, and how to transform, clean, query, infer and conclude from it. You should be proficient at SQL, Python/R and in general have experience-based knowledge of how APIs, ETLs and other data processes work.

  • Sharp Presentational Skills. You’ll be presenting complex data to diverse audiences at every level of the company. You will need to convey complex data in a simple way, and should know how to ensure presentations are crisp, MECE, polished, and data-driven as much as you should know how to brief it. We’re not aiming to be McKinsey here, we’re a tech company… but if you come across like we are that won’t kill you. 

  • In The Details. Using data at Native should be about learning what we need to improve, and how we should go about it. That means knowing each of our teams and their processes inside out, and ensuring that when you are providing recommendations, they’re the right ones to make.

For example, you’ll actually be paid $1,500 in reimbursement to travel to other continents for vacation to help increase your exposure to the places around the world we work.
