The Role:

The Product Strategy Analyst will partner with Product leadership to support our goals to more deeply embed data-driven decision-making into our overall product strategy. You will ensure that the products we build align with our short- and long-term goals by (1) owning and evolving our core product KPIs, (2) tracking our progress along these KPIs, and (3) investigating shifts to help our Product partners better understand what is driving performance. You’ll partner with Product Analytics colleagues to compile and synthesize analytical insights, suggest action items and next steps to guide strategic decision-making, and will help prepare and/or deliver presentations on your insights to executive leadership and various other stakeholders across the organization. You will work with our Business Intelligence team to manage and develop a portfolio of reports and dashboards that enable Product leadership to keep a pulse on our top-level KPIs and develop a quantitative understanding of what levers to pull to influence performance.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

Reporting to the Manager of Product Analytics, you’ll have the opportunity to work on complex data problems that help arm our business stakeholders with the insights to guide short- and long-term strategic initiatives. You’ll have the opportunity to work directly with our Product leadership team and deliver insights that will be instrumental in the development and evolution of our future Product Roadmap. You’ll also work closely with the rest of Product, Data Engineering, Content, and Design. You’ll sit on our inaugural Product Analytics function, and will be integral in setting the standard for excellence within Newsela’s Product Analytics function. Your work will ultimately help drive a meaningful impact on the learning and teaching experience of K-12 teachers and students nationwide.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have 3+ years as an Analyst in Consumer Product Analytics, Business Analytics, or another function with a strong focus on using data to make leadership-level business decisions. You have 2+ years experience in querying databases (SQL), leveraging a scripting language (R/Python) to analyze data, and/or using Looker (or other data visualization tools) to deliver repeatable insights. You might have experience building product metric forecasting models. You are a data storyteller - you naturally enjoy visualizing data and articulation compelling, action-oriented insights. Even though you love diving into the nitty-gritty of data, you never lose sight of the big picture. You crave impact and don’t shy away from projects with an executive audience. You have experience working with diverse product teams and excel at communicating to stakeholders across a variety of audiences internally, translating data insights into actionable product development plans and establishing KPIs.
