The Actuarial Reserving Support Team within Global Risk Solutions (GRS) Actuarial has two openings for a Senior Business Analyst. In this role, you will use creative problem solving and data/technical skills to improve existing processes, enhance relationships with stakeholders, and enable better insights and analyses of GRS reserves. This role is a good fit for someone who has strong data/technical skills and enjoys creatively solving complex data problems.
Responsibilities

  • Use advanced technical skills (e.g. SAS, Python, VBA) to maintain, enhance, and automate complex data processes that support GRS reserving. Responsible for a large segment of data used in the reserving process as well as for data used in reserving analytics.
  • Partner with reserving actuaries to understand their analytical needs, to understand the challenges of the business, and to offer them custom solutions that add value to their processes. Deliver an exceptional stakeholder experience via well-organized design/testing plans and robust communication.
  • Provide clear and concise communication of technical work to various stakeholders, including reserving actuaries and Senior Management.
  • Work on special projects involving a Robotic Processing Automation (RPA) tool, ResQ reserving software, and various internal data marts. Work with a diverse group of stakeholders with different needs throughout the global GRS organization.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor to review work, discuss project status, concerns, and seek guidance
  • Create tools, processes, and documentation that improve transparency, create efficiencies, and allow stakeholders to seamlessly interact with the reserving data. Stakeholders include: Senior Management, Reserving + Pricing (North America, LSM, Surety), GRS Actuarial Planning Support, GRS Actuarial Pricing Support, Corporate Actuarial, and occasionally the Global Retail Markets (GRM) business unit.


Qualifications

  • Displays strong research, problem solving, analytical, critical thinking, influencing, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Strong business operations knowledge to include understanding the function's value chain and market conditions.
  • Solid ability to support change and impart value within an organization.
  • Solid project management skills as part of implementing business process changes.
  • Strong knowledge of available data sources, strengths and shortcomings.
  • May also be relevant based on the particular needs of the position
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and solid knowledge of database software.
  • Solid knowledge of business intelligence tools preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in addition to 5+ years of relevant experience to include business analysis work.
