The Role:

The SQL Data Engineer will support our Data Warehouse team through contribution to ETL and data quality SQL scripting. You’ll design ELT / ETL to enhance the availability and performance of the emerging data warehouse, and will develop a foundation for growth while expanding our regression testing and data quality framework. Reporting to the Manager of Data Warehouse, you’ll work closely with our Business Intelligence, Data Science, and Data Governance teams.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

You’ll have the opportunity to expand and build upon your data governance, data modeling, and data quality techniques and learn ETL scripting with Python and overall best practices. As part of a fast-growing team, you’ll also have the opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive environment. Ultimately, your work will drive meaningful enhancements to the learning and teaching experience of over 25 million students and teachers across the U.S. and help improve the future of K-12 education. And because we're a technology company focused on improving the way students learn, you’ll be part of an engineering culture that values teaching, learning, and questioning. You’ll have close mentorship as needed, and regular one-on-one’s, all to ensure you’re growing your technical skills and interests.

Why We’ll Love You:

With 2+ years experience as a SQL Developer, DBA, BI Developer, Data Analyst, or Database Programmer, you have demonstrated expertise in SQL and using creative problem solving to ensure data quality and conduct testing and bug finding. You have a deep understanding of data quality assurance and monitoring, with a specific focus on documentation. You’ve ideally worked in the education, healthcare, or government fields, and can work relatively autonomously to understand data structures and business processes, identify potential areas of data quality issues, and build out regression testing scripts to ensure high quality of ETL loads. While not a requirement, Python or other scripting language experience, as well as source control experience (e.g. GitHub), is a plus.
