Job Description

CSCI Consulting is looking for a Database Administrator to support and maintain enterprise-level database systems. In this role, the consultant will have a strong background in both relational and NoSQL databases, with hands-on experience in Oracle DBMS and cloud-based platforms. This role will be responsible for database schema management, backups, patching and performance tuning across multiple environments. 

Responsibilities
  • Administer and maintain enterprise databases and data warehouses, ensuring optimal performance and availability.

  • Monitor, configure, and control database access, storage, and security.

  • Develop, write, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.

  • Perform regular database backups, recovery, patching, and version upgrades.

  • Support capacity planning and implement efficient data storage strategies.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in production environments.

  • Automate administrative tasks using scripting languages such as Python or Bash.

  • Assist in the management of Oracle Database systems, ZFS, LVM, and Exadata appliances.

  • Support cloud-based database platforms including Oracle Cloud Database, AWS RDS, and Azure SQL Database.

  • Apply data warehousing concepts and ETL processes to support business analytics.

  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support new and ongoing projects.


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 4+ years of experience in database administration or related technical role.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

  • Strong understanding of database principles, data modeling, and design.

  • Experience with Oracle DBMS in production environments.

  • Familiarity with NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB or Cassandra.

  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Python and Bash.

  • Experience with database schema management, patching, and tuning.

  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database, ZFS, LVM, and Exadata systems.

  • Oracle Database Administrator Certified Associate (OCA) certification.


Preferred Skills
  • Experience with hybrid or multi-cloud database deployments.

  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for database development and deployment.

  • Experience supporting mission-critical systems in government or defense environments.
