Job Description

Product Designer II - Tech Incubation

The Tech Incubation team aspires to push the existing boundaries in cancer care at the confluence of tech and health. We function as an engine for innovation that supports bold, scientific experimentation with new technologies in a variety of breakthrough domains that helps shape MSK’s digital transformation. The team is a multidisciplinary group of designers, product managers, engineers and data scientists whose activities range from basic tech research, to proof of concept and design work, to streamlined pilots and evaluations of new technologies in production clinical and business environments. We also reach beyond institutional walls to forge collaborations with academic, startup, and established industry partners to accelerate and augment these activities.    

   

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON?    

As Product Designer, you will be a part of a multidisciplinary team in the process of developing, testing, and sharing new approaches and tools to advance the state-of-the-art in cancer care. You will help lead an experimental product development pipeline with an iterative, fail-fast mentality. Your role will strive to develop impactful, if not disruptive, design strategies, approaches, and products that are essential to MSK’s digital transformation. You will work with the Tech Incubation leadership team (ACIO, Tech Research Lead, Product Managers, Engineering Manager, Portfolio Manager) to identify and assess opportunities for new product development, and work with our designers, data scientists, and engineers to develop product concepts and define product strategies.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Ensure products are beautiful and easy to use for our patients and staff  
  • Craft and elevate multi-dimensional user interfaces   
  • Participate in interdisciplinary workshops to problem frame, mine for business insights, and convert outcomes into action plans  
  • Establish page layouts, information hierarchies and pattern libraries  
  • Apply a broad range of product design techniques, including sketching, prototyping, information architecture design, and interaction modeling  
  • Conduct industry research and stay up to date on best practices and emerging trends in human computer interaction 

 

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE   

  • 5+ years building and implementing sustainable digital products that users love  
  • Impeccable execution and care for all aspects of design, from research to visual design 
  • Focused and dedicated to how products "look" and "feel" 
  • Ability to innovate and develop out-of-the-box solutions to complex interaction problems 
  • Experience communicating conceptual ideas and proposed design solutions verbally and visually to both non-technical and non-creative audiences 
  • Experience using a wide range of design, prototyping, and collaboration tools such as Sketch, Figma, InVision and similar  
  • Comfortable navigating in a fast paced, agile environment  
  • Previous experience in healthcare setting or large enterprise
