The Role:

The UX Research Manager will build, grow, and manage a team of high-performing UX Researchers. Your team will plan, conduct, and synthesize research that will inform innovative, engaging, and effortless product experiences to support the individual needs of every Newsela teacher and student. Reporting to the VP of Product Design, you will partner closely with Product, Design, Research, Engineering, Data, Content, and Marketing to identify and explore new opportunities and co-design sessions to help define product roadmaps, vision, and strategy.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

Exceptional education products have never been more important or crucially needed. Your team's research will directly impact the learning and teaching experience of tens of millions of users across the U.S. Your work will enable teachers and students nationwide to discover and use the most relevant, engaging content in a timely, efficient manner, which will ultimately help drive higher engagement with Newsela’s learning content and better learning outcomes. You will have the opportunity to help shape the future of K-12 education by designing and delivering delightful, engaging, intuitive product experiences.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have an exceptional portfolio of work samples focused on UX Research and Testing. You have 8+ years of relevant research experience including the following: growing and managing a UX Research team; defining processes and operational mechanisms that integrate user research into product design and development practices; designing, conducting, and analyzing qualitative studies, including field observations, interviews, and remote and in-person user testing for both current and new product features; designing, conducting, and analyzing quantitative studies, such as surveys and A/B testing to evaluate impact of product changes and gather insights at scale; effectively communicating research findings through in-person presentations and comprehensive documentation to provide recommendations to different stakeholders; working collaboratively in a dynamic, cross-functional team.

You empathize deeply with the customer and fiercely advocate from their perspective. You understand and articulate customer needs, values, behaviors, problems and interactions with our product. You strongly advocate for the role of research in product development and work closely with Product and Design to prioritize research opportunities. You drive research based on a deep understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and tools. You have an exceptional ability to synthesize multiple inputs (reporting data, metrics, qualitative and quantitative insights) and deliver insights that lead to measurable business value. You have excellent interviewing and facilitation skills. You are thoughtful, curious, attentive to detail, and set high standards for yourself and your team. You are autonomous and take responsibility for every last detail, from conception to launch.
