Lead the development process for renewable energy projects from site origination through permitting. Build automation systems and mentor team members, while keeping product development aligned with developer needs.
🌎 The Opportunity
In the next 30 years, the world will transform every part of the built environment to be climate positive green infrastructure. But today’s renewable energy development process can’t move fast enough to meet global goals. Paces exists to change that. We are providing software and services to accelerate power development and unlocking one of the greatest opportunities of our time: transforming how infrastructure gets built and ensuring it’s built with renewable energy.
🛠️ Our Solution
Paces is building the development engine for renewable infrastructure and power projects. We have built Agentic AI that automates early-stage due diligence and pairs it with in-house expertise to accelerate late-stage diligence. The result: projects move from siting to construction-ready in a fraction of the time. Our platform streamlines siting, interconnection, and permitting for renewable energy and data center developers, real estate firms, EV charging companies, and more.
🧑🎨 Our Team
We are building a team where people can proudly say their time at Paces is the most impactful, meaningful work of their career. Our amazing team in Brooklyn, New York includes incredible team members from tech companies like Meta AI, DeepMind, and Tesla; various high growth startups; as well as industry leaders from TotalEnergies, ConEdison and GE.
Paces is growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to join who want to have a massive positive climate impact while building a great culture! We are looking for a Development Manager to join our Development-as-a-Service team, reporting directly to the Head of Development.
🏆 What You’ll Achieve
- Lead development engagements from site origination through permitting and interconnection
- Site Origination: Run greenfield and acquisition workflows end-to-end: screening, landowner outreach, contract negotiation, and economic modeling.
- Interconnection: Manage utility coordination, power flow analysis, and interconnection applications across transmission and distribution projects.
- Permitting: Understand required permitting pathways, identify key stakeholders, and prepare and submit permit applications.
- Build automation systems that scale
- Build tooling and playbooks that reduce cycle time across site evaluation, diligence, and reporting.
- Surface product roadmap inputs from frontline development delivery pain points.
- Be the Voice of the Developer
- Keep siting, permitting, and power products grounded in what developers encounter on the ground.
- File actionable tickets, surface patterns across engagements, and participate in design and product reviews.
- Develop the team and codify knowledge
- Mentor Associate members of the team, build onboarding and project playbooks, and raise the bar on how Paces delivers at scale.
- Act as a domain expert within Paces to shape internal methodologies and educate other teams.
📈 Requirements
- 4+ years of exceptional experience in renewable energy development, data center infrastructure, or power project development. Relevant roles include Project Developer, Development Engineer, Data Center Origination Manager, Interconnection Analyst, Site Acquisition Manager, or Solutions Engineer at a developer, consultancy, or IPP.
- Proven track record of moving projects from siting through NTP: negotiating land agreements, driving interconnection applications, navigating permitting, and modeling project economics.
- Comfort with GIS, data analysis, AI coding tools, and utility planning portals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage relationships across C-suite customers, utilities, offtakers, and internal technical teams simultaneously.
✨ About You
- You wake up excited about grid infrastructure, climate tech, or the data-center energy arms race.
- You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and can translate complex utility or regulatory processes into actionable next steps.
- You think like a developer, not just a consultant. You care whether the project actually gets built, and you take ownership of outcomes.
- You thrive in ambiguity and find fulfillment in solving un-scoped problems while managing multiple concurrent work streams
- You have a meticulous attention to detail and a passion for getting it right, whether that’s a zoning map, load flow model, or customer proposal.
🚀 Bonus Points
- Prior experience in project acquisitions or M&A diligence, sourcing deals, evaluating development-stage assets, reviewing data rooms, or supporting transaction execution.
- Experience at a high-growth startup, or in a client-embedded role where you were accountable to someone else's timeline and capital.
- Hands-on comfort with scripting tools, AI coding tools, and a passion to automate repetitive tasks.
- Deep knowledge of data center load profiles, large load interconnection, or energy procurement for hyperscale or co-location customers.
💰 Compensation and Benefits
- $140,000 - $170,000 annual compensation
- Competitive equity compensation
- 401(k) match
- Health, dental and vision insurance
- Paid company holidays & PTO
- Hybrid work in the office in Williamsburg, Brooklyn ~3x per week
