The Digital Content Compliance Coordinator will audit video content for copyright compliance, verify licenses, and maintain tracking documentation.
PIX11 News is seeking a meticulous and motivated Digital Content Compliance Coordinator to support a special project focused on auditing copyrighted video content across our digital platforms. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented with a solid understanding of digital publishing and enthusiasm for local news and social media. This is a temporary, part‑time contract position.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Digital Executive Producer to audit videos posted to PIX11’s website and social media platforms to ensure compliance with Nexstar’s copyright policy.
- Conduct a comprehensive review of video and multimedia assets across PIX11’s digital platforms to ensure all content meets Nexstar’s copyright and usage policies.
- Verify third‑party licensing agreements, usage rights, and expiration dates for archived and newly published content.
- Support the removal or replacement of non‑compliant content in a timely manner to minimize legal exposure.
- Maintain detailed tracking spreadsheets to document audit findings, actions taken, and outstanding issues.
- Provide weekly reports to the Digital Executive Producer summarizing progress, trends, and compliance improvements.
Qualifications and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
- 1–2 years of experience in a digital newsroom, media organization, or content management role with exposure to rights management or compliance workflows.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Akta, or similar platforms used in newsroom environments.
- Comfortable navigating social media analytics dashboards and platform upload tools, including Meta Business Suite, YouTube Studio, and TikTok Creator.
- Ability to quickly assess whether content is original, licensed, user-generated, or syndicated.
- Knowledge of fair use, copyright basics, and attribution standards in a journalism context is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time‑management skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Hourly rate: $23+
