This is a highly visible, high-impact role for a player-coach who can build executive-ready reporting in Domo, diagnose shifts in key business metrics, and turn complex signals into clear, actionable direction for stakeholders across the company.

About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)

We are a global media company that publishes nearly 200 magazine editions and 175 websites around the world—and together, we are shaping what’s next.

Key Responsibilities (What You’re Doing)
  • Own the design and build of a comprehensive Domo reporting suite covering Content Performance, Advertising Revenue, and Affiliate Monetization, ensuring consistency with enterprise KPI definitions and Looker semantic models.
  • Personally contribute to the development of dashboards and analyses in Domo, operating as a player-coach while guiding a team of analysts.
  • Lead cross-functional root-cause analysis of enterprise performance shifts (e.g., traffic declines, RPM fluctuations, affiliate revenue drops), identifying macro drivers such as traffic mix changes, engagement quality, monetization efficiency, and content velocity, and partnering with domain analytics teams for deeper campaign-, product-, or partner-level diagnostics as needed.
  • Analyze digital advertising and affiliate performance, including metrics such as RPM, CPM, CTR, EPC, and revenue per session, to uncover opportunities for revenue optimization.
  • Ensure enterprise KPIs (sessions, engaged sessions, revenue, RPM, EPC, etc.) are consistently operationalized, reconciled across business units, and surfaced through executive-ready reporting...
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytics initiatives that produce actionable insights
  • Lead and mentor a team of data analysts and BI professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in data analytics and insights delivery
  • Implement processes for automating reporting and analytics workflows to ensure timely and accurate delivery of insights to key stakeholders
  • Ensure that insights are communicated effectively across the organization, helping stakeholders to make informed decisions based on data
  • Define and standardize reporting methodologies to ensure consistency and clarity in data presentation and interpretation across the organization
  • Continuously improve reporting frameworks and analytical approaches to increase speed, clarity, and business impact.
  • Support weekly and monthly executive performance reviews by delivering clear, reconciled reporting and actionable insights.
  • Work closely with data engineers and IT teams to ensure that the underlying data infrastructure supports effective analysis and reporting.
Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)
  • 10+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or a related field, with a strong focus on reporting and insights delivery
  • Proven track record of leading teams in the creation and delivery of data-driven insights, dashboards, and reports
  • Strong expertise in Domo (required), with experience validating and cross-referencing data against Looker semantic models. Experience building executive dashboards and scalable reporting frameworks.
  • Extensive experience in defining and managing KPIs, metrics, and reporting standards across business functions
  • Demonstrated experience independently conducting deep-dive performance analyses that led to measurable business impact.
  • Experience analyzing digital advertising and/or affiliate monetization performance, including revenue efficiency metrics (RPM, EPC, CTR, CPM).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders and drive actionable business decisions
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence decision-making through data insights
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding teams of data analysts or BI professionals
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, or other data query and manipulation tools
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., BigQuery, AWS, Azure) and data warehousing solutions is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Hybrid work model: This role is based in New York City and requires in-office presence four days per week.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in defining and managing KPIs and metrics in a data-driven environment
  • Familiarity with digital advertising, eCommerce, or other data-driven industries where analytics is central to business strategy.
  • Experience in building automated reporting tools or processes that improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Experience in leading a team of BI analysts, including mentoring, guiding, and developing talent
