PRIMARY FUNCTION / POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a statistically savvy storyteller and strategic authority to join our Marketing Analytics Team. This role departs from traditional manual reporting; you will serve as a principal strategic lead who uses code to mine complex datasets, uncovering the "why" behind customer behaviors. This individual will lead cross-functional teams to translate audience insights into business recommendations that lead to more effective marketing programs. You will be responsible for owning the consumer perspective narrative while providing high-level strategic recommendations to help our client’s business—a Fortune 100 automotive manufacturer—run more efficiently.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:
- Client Partnership & Strategic Consultation: Serve as a trusted advisor for senior clients, proactively identifying their business challenges and translating them into analytical roadmaps; act as the bridge between technical findings and executive stakeholders.
- Audience Discovery: Architect the approach to mine and analyze large amounts of data to extract core insights regarding customer demographics, psychographics, and other relevant data.
- Strategic Storytelling: Oversee and craft the visualization of data to tell the right data story for a non-technical audience, expertly translating raw code outputs into strategic narratives for Senior Management and clients.
- Advanced Data Extraction: Query required data across multiple databases (e.g., Snowflake and Databricks) using code (e.g., SQL, Python, R) to access granular audience data without reliance on pre-made dashboards. Expertly combine data across multiple data types (flat files, extracts, unstructured data, etc.) to generate insights. Set the standard for code efficiency and query logic within the team.
- Data Engineering & Quality: Proactively identify data definition and quality issues within the warehouse (Snowflake) and provide appropriate resolution through code, collaborating with engineering teams to prevent future discrepancies.
- Exploratory Analysis: Conduct rigorous exploratory data analysis (using Python or R) to answer high-stakes business questions and generate actionable insights.
- Ambiguity Management: Ability to lead the team through directional, undefined requests, and unstructured data environments to build concrete consumer insights.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Coding: Proficiency in SQL and one programming language (Python or R).
- Executive Storytelling: Creative thinking with the ability to create concise themes and stories in analytic deliverables for C-Level audiences.
- Data Visualization: Experience automating data visualization (e.g., PowerBI) to make client deliverables more insightful and efficient.
- Statistics: Theoretical understanding from university or self-taught courses, exploratory data analysis, hypothesis testing (bonus: statistical modelling).
- Platform Experience: Experience working within Snowflake and/or Databricks environments.
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to deeply to understand the business problem first, before jumping into the technology and methods.
- Dynamic Teaming: Prioritize and work on multiple projects while meetings deadlines; work collaboratively with teammates and clients to achieve common business goals.
- Consumer Research: Familiarity with segmentation, survey data, and third-party research tools (e.g., mTAB, Polk, JD Power) is a strong plus.
- Marketing Data: Familiarity with CRM, website analytics, and visualization tools like Adobe Analytics, Salesforce, PowerBI, etc.
- Ability to Learn: Willingness and ability to pick up new tools, technologies and methods.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field
- 6-8+ years of experience in data analytics, consumer/market research, management consulting, or marketing analysis
- Ability to work on-site in Detroit, MI or New York, NY
- Automotive Marketing background is highly preferred
