The Director of Business Development will lead end-to-end sales efforts, build relationships with pharma and biotech sponsors, and manage client accounts within a fast-paced startup. Responsibilities include prospecting, solution design, and collaborating with internal teams.
Role Overview
This is a senior, quota-carrying role focused on selling ProofPilot’s solutions to pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors. The Director of Business Development will own the full sales cycle and be expected to build and deepen strategic client relationships in a fast-paced startup environment.
What You’ll Do
- Own end-to-end sales: prospect, qualify, run discovery, design solutions, negotiate, and
close new business with pharma and biotech sponsors. - Develop and grow senior-level relationships across clinical operations, digital health, and
patient recruitment teams, positioning ProofPilot as a long-term partner. - Sell ProofPilot’s core offerings (examples: staff training, patient and site communications,
recruitment technology, and feasibility solutions) as integrated solutions that drive
measurable ROI. - Build and manage a healthy pipeline, maintain accurate forecasts, and document activities
and opportunities in HubSpot CRM. - Collaborate closely with product, marketing, and delivery teams to shape proposals, respond
to RFPs, and ensure successful handoff and launch.
Requirements
- 7+ years of quota-carrying sales or business development experience in life sciences,
including 5+ years selling clinical technology or patient/site engagement solutions to
pharma/biotech. - Proven success closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals and expanding accounts into multi-
study or program-level partnerships. - Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment, comfortable owning more of the
process and operating with limited support. - Deep understanding of clinical trial operations, especially patient recruitment, site burden,
and participant engagement challenges. - Strong relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills, with proficiency in HubSpot or similar CRM tools.
