The Director of Business Development drives growth by identifying opportunities, cultivating strategic partnerships, and expanding the company’s market presence. Success depends on influence and cross-functional collaboration. The Director works closely with internal teams, and other business stakeholders to align business development efforts with company’s capabilities and strategic objectives.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop in-depth knowledge of company offerings to identify business opportunities
- Cultivate and manage strategic partnerships to grow the business
- Partner with internal teams and cross-functional stakeholders to advance business development objectives
- Collaborate with client service teams to align business development efforts with firm capabilities and capacity
- Present business and marketing opportunities to Managing Directors
- Contribute to revenue and pipeline growth targets set with Managing Directors
- Maintain existing client relationships and identify prospects for new ones
- Contact potential clients to establish business relationships
- Build and strengthen internal and external relationships that drive lead generation and market share
- Expand the profile and reach of the company and its brands
- Help shape the company’s long-term objectives
- Research current industry trends to create new opportunities for business expansion
- Maintain a strong understanding of company products, services, market position, and competition to keep the business competitive
- Monitor and manage leads using the client management database
- Represent the firm professionally at industry conferences, seminars, and events to maintain presence and build relationships
- Support branding and media communications, including marketing materials and social media, and the company website
Requirements
- Proven business development, sales, or marketing experience in alternative investments; minimum 5 years in fund administration, prime brokerage, or tax and audit
- Working knowledge of fund administration and the investment industry
- Experience designing and implementing business development strategies
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to listen to and understand the needs of potential clients
- Strong time management, with flexibility to extend work hours as business needs require
- Creative thinking skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, marketing, or a related field
