Position Overview

RAB is a fully remote, fully cloud-based company. We run a national lighting manufacturing and distribution business with no on-premises servers, no office network to babysit, and a modern SaaS stack already in place. The Director of Business Technology isn’t being hired to build that foundation — it’s built. We’re hiring someone to take it to the next level.

The next level is AI. We want a Director who sees every manual process, every handoff, and every report as a candidate for automation, and who is capable of actually doing it — evaluating tools, writing or directing the integrations, and shipping working systems that change how RAB operates. You’ll own IT strategy, cybersecurity, systems, and vendor relationships, and the environment has to stay secure and reliable — that’s table stakes. The measure of success beyond that is how much of the business you’ve transformed.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is as comfortable in an API or a data pipeline as in a budget review, and who is excited that the tools now exist to rebuild how a mid-sized company works.

Education / Experience Details:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Master’s degree and relevant certifications in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, networking, or IT management preferred.
Equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.

Required Minimum Experience
• 7-10 years of progressively responsible IT experience, including leadership or management responsibilities.
• 2-4 years of AI tools proficiency
• Demonstrated experience in IT infrastructure, desktop and server management, networking, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, vendor management, budgeting, and technology implementation.
• Experience with AWS/Azure and familiarity with programming or scripting languages.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot preferred.

Core Competencies:

• Technical Expertise – Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and cloud technologies.
• Leadership and Team Development – Ability to lead, motivate, and develop IT personnel.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, assess risks, and make sound decisions.
• AI Tools Proficiency and Digital Transformation – Ability to leverage AI tools to improve IT operations, automate processes, and drive efficiency and innovation.
• Cybersecurity Acumen: Understands threats, controls, and risk tradeoffs well enough to set priorities, challenge vendors and engineers, and make sound decisions under incident pressure.
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills – Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work effectively with executive leadership, employees, and external partners.
• Project and Organizational Management: Ability to prioritize initiatives, coordinate resources, and manage competing priorities.
• Risk Assessment and Decision-Making: Ability to evaluate technology risks and balance security, operational needs, and cost.
• Negotiation and Vendor Relations: Ability to evaluate vendors, negotiate contracts, and maintain productive business relationships.
• Financial and Business Acumen: Ability to manage budgets, evaluate technology investments, and align IT decisions with business priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with RAB’s business objectives.
• Oversee IT infrastructure, including desktops, servers, networks, cloud services, and related systems.
• Manage cybersecurity, information security, risk mitigation, compliance, and disaster recovery.
• Lead and supervise IT staff and oversee technology support and service delivery.
• Establish and maintain IT policies, procedures, standards, and documentation.
• Develop and manage IT budgets, vendor contracts, technology resources, and capacity planning.
• Lead technology projects, system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with executive leadership and other departments to address business needs and technology priorities.

Work Arrangement and Travel
Remote work arrangement, subject to RAB’s operational requirements.
Approximately 10% travel to RAB facilities, vendor meetings, training, conferences, and team-building activities may be required.

If you're ready to help RAB take its technology and business processes to the next level, we'd love to hear from you!
