The Director, Clinical Strategy is responsible for leading the design, development, and scaling of clinical initiatives aligned to specific priority areas identified by agilon. The role focuses on solving well-defined problems—such as improving early identification and proactive treatment for chronic conditions—by driving execution from concept through implementation and scale.
The Director partners closely with operations, technology, market leadership, and clinical stakeholders to ensure initiatives are operationally viable, adopted consistently, and deliver measurable outcomes. The role emphasizes ownership, cross-functional coordination, vendor management, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on the end-user experience.
Essential Job Functions
• Own end-to-end delivery of clinical initiatives aligned to defined organizational priorities.
• Lead initiatives from concept through pilot, launch, and scale, ensuring clarity of scope, milestones, and success metrics.
• Oversee implementation across markets, ensuring initiatives are operationally viable and consistently executed.
• Manage dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs to support timely and effective execution.
• Develop operating plans, performance indicators, and feedback mechanisms to support continuous improvement.
• Partner closely with operations, technology, clinical, and market teams to support initiative execution.
• Drive alignment across cross-functional teams with shared responsibilities and competing priorities.
• Serve as a central point of coordination and communication for complex, multi-stakeholder workstreams.
• Communicate progress, outcomes, and risks clearly to senior leaders and partners.
• Incorporate feedback from end users to inform iteration and refinement.
• Identify, evaluate, and select external vendors and partners in support of initiative goals.
• Lead vendor onboarding, integration, and ongoing relationship management.
• Monitor vendor performance to ensure alignment with operational requirements and outcome expectations.
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure vendor solutions integrate effectively with agilon’s platform and workflows.
• Define and track metrics tied to quality, experience, cost, and operational performance.
• Collect, validate, and analyze performance data to support reporting and decision-making.
• Interpret performance metrics, summarize trends, and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Use performance insights to guide iteration, optimization, and scaling decisions.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Experience
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience in healthcare, technology, operations, strategy, or related fields; or Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex initiatives from problem definition through execution.
• Experience working closely with clinical teams or within care delivery environments preferred.
Skills and Abilities
• Strong ability to break down complex problems into executable plans, grounded in the needs of end users.
• Strong organizational and process-management skills.
• Capable of managing multiple workstreams and deadlines effectively.
• Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams in matrixed environments.
• Experience evaluating, onboarding, and managing external vendors and partners.
• Strong analytical capabilities, including proficiency in data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting.
• Ability to interpret performance metrics, summarize trends, and translate insights into actions that improve outcomes and end-user experience.
• Proactively identifies opportunities to streamline processes, reduce friction, and improve results.
• Proficiency with Excel for analysis, tracking, and reporting.
• Ability to create clear, professional presentations for senior and external audiences.
• Proficiency with PowerPoint, including structuring narratives and synthesizing complex information.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Computer Skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work with reporting tools, dashboards, or performance-tracking platforms.
