We’re reimagining the future of Yahoo Finance, building a destination that makes money, markets, and investing feel smart, relevant, and human. We’re looking for an exceptional Director of Content Design to help shape the next chapter. This is a leadership role for someone who can blend design craft with editorial instinct — turning complex financial topics into clear, artful, and compelling visual stories.
You’ll be leading a small but mighty content design team, working across editorial and video to shape an evolving visual identity for Yahoo Finance. This role is for a designer who’s also a storyteller — someone who can take complex financial ideas and turn them into arresting visual experiences that help people understand the world of money in new ways. How do you make a market story feel alive? How do you take data and use design to pull in an audience — through imagery, illustration, animation, or video. How do you build a design language that makes financial information beautiful, modern, and worth sharing? We don’t want a corporate sensibility, we want an artistic one.
If those questions excite you, we’d love to talk.
We’re a team of editors, writers, producers, and personalities. Together, we’re reinventing how finance is experienced across Yahoo’s platforms — from articles and newsletters to apps, social feeds, and video. Some of us are market junkies, some of us just love storytelling, but all of us are here to make Yahoo Finance the most trusted and engaging business media brand in the world.
What You’ll Do:
Lead and mentor the content design team responsible for Yahoo Finance’s visual storytelling across platforms.
Partner with editors, writers, and producers to elevate stories through thoughtful, distinctive design.
Turn financial data and market insights into clear, elegant infographics and visual narratives.
Create graphics, motion assets, and visual concepts for digital, social, newsletters, and video.
Shape the visual language of Yahoo Finance — consistent, recognizable, and full of personality.
Drive key art and visual direction for major financial moments like earnings, market movers, and economic events.
Develop design systems, templates, and guidelines that scale across editorial and content surfaces.
Manage multiple design projects while keeping timelines realistic and creative standards high.
Collaborate on new content franchises that live across social, video, newsletters, and onsite formats.
What We’re Looking For:
10+ years of experience in visual design, brand design, content design, or related fields.
Strong portfolio showcasing visual storytelling, data visualization, and multi-platform design.
Experience managing or mentoring designers, with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.
Background in digital publishing, media, content-driven products, or adjacent industries.
Comfortable working closely with editorial, video, and product partners.
Strong understanding of how visuals drive engagement across web, app, and social.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Curiosity about business, markets, and the stories behind them — or a genuine excitement to learn.
A point of view, a sense of taste, and an instinct for clarity.
Someone who wants to help build a creative culture, not just contribute to one.
Why This Role Matters:
Yahoo Finance reaches a huge audience every day. The way our stories look and feel shapes how people understand money, markets, and the world around them. As Director of Content Design, you’ll help define that voice — creating visuals that make Finance more accessible, more exciting, and more essential.
