We’re looking for a strategic, creative, and audience-obsessed Director of Content Marketing to lead Degreed’s content engine into its next chapter of growth. In this high-impact, player-coach role, you’ll define and execute a bold content strategy that elevates our brand, connects deeply with our audiences, and supports our product, demand, and thought leadership initiatives.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Marketing and Communications, you’ll oversee a high-performing team spanning content, multimedia, social, and design. You’ll also lead the charge in leveraging AI and automation to scale content creation, amplify our message, and deliver measurable impact.

Key Skills

  • Proven ability to lead and scale content marketing programs, with a strong track record of ownership across strategy, execution, and team development.
  • Strategic thinker with deep expertise in B2B buyer behavior, content marketing best practices, and evolving digital trends.
  • Strong grasp of Degreed’s target L&D and executive audiences, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
  • Expertise in building and scaling SEO and AEO strategies that drive discoverability and conversion.
  • Hands-on experience with AI content tools, CMS platforms, and marketing automation systems.
  • Highly creative storyteller and brand builder with experience across multimedia channels (e.g., blogs, video, reports, and social media).
  • Excellent coordination and project management skills, with a track record of leading complex initiatives across multiple teams.
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills to measure performance and optimize strategies.
  • Experience leading internal creative teams and managing external vendors/contractors effectively.
  • Experience leading internal creative talent and external vendors/contractors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, lead, and continually evolve a world-class content strategy that supports Degreed’s brand visibility, product growth, and business goals.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Degreed’s audience segments and create content strategies tailored to executive decision-makers and learning professionals.
  • Manage and scale Degreed’s editorial calendar—spanning blogs, videos, thought leadership, reports, and social content.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire a high-performing team including a Content Marketing Manager, Senior Multimedia Content Creator, Brand Designer, and external agencies/contractors.
  • Execute and refine a modern SEO and AEO strategy to boost Degreed’s organic reach and authority.
  • Drive content operations and efficiency through the thoughtful application of AI and automation tools.
  • Partner cross-functionally with product marketing, digital, brand, events, and sales teams to align messaging, maximize content value, and support campaigns.
  • Maintain high standards of editorial quality, brand consistency, and creative innovation across all content.
  • Write, produce, and oversee the creation of high-impact assets including research reports, blogs, and multimedia stories.
  • Track performance, analyze trends, and adapt strategies to ensure measurable impact and continuous improvement.
  • Experiment with emerging formats, channels, and technologies to keep Degreed’s content leading-edge.

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in content marketing, including several years leading strategy, teams, and high-impact initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success building audience-first content strategies that drive engagement, brand visibility, and pipeline growth.

  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills—able to align cross-functional teams around a shared vision and deliver results.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a creative spirit and a strong bias for action.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, agile environments with shifting priorities and big ambitions.


Compensation

We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
The total pay range for this role is $160,000 - $185,000.
Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
