The Director, Corporate Communications will lead CyrusOne's corporate communications strategy, with responsibility for internal communications, executive communications, social media and owned corporate channels, corporate content and thought leadership, and communications supporting major company initiatives and milestones.
This role will serve as a senior communications advisor to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications and company leadership, helping ensure CyrusOne communicates clearly, consistently and effectively with employees and across its owned corporate channels.
The Director will build the programs, processes and editorial discipline needed to support a growing global organization, while partnering closely with External Communications, Marketing, Human Resources, Legal, Finance and other business functions.
This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate will be comfortable advising executives, developing communications strategy, writing high-impact content, managing multiple communications channels and building scalable processes for a rapidly growing company.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Internal Communications

  • Develop and lead CyrusOne's internal communications strategy, ensuring employees are informed and connected to company priorities, strategy and culture.
  • Own company-wide employee communications, including corporate announcements, organizational updates, leadership messages and other enterprise communications.
  • Lead communications strategy and content development for company All Hands meetings and other major employee forums.
  • Develop communications plans supporting organizational change, significant business initiatives and company milestones.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources and business leaders on employee communications and change-management needs.
  • Establish and maintain an integrated internal communications calendar and editorial strategy.
  • Improve communications intake, prioritization, approval and distribution processes across the organization.
  • Develop templates, playbooks and communications standards that enable leaders and managers to communicate more effectively.
  • Establish meaningful measurement and feedback mechanisms to continually improve internal communications effectiveness.

Executive Communications

  • Lead executive communications programs for the CEO and other senior leaders in partnership with the Vice President of Marketing & Communications.
  • Develop executive messaging, speeches, presentations, talking points, employee communications and other leadership content.
  • Maintain consistency of executive voice and messaging across internal and owned external channels.
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders around major company initiatives, organizational changes and employee communications.
  • Develop and manage executive communications calendars and visibility plans.
  • Partner with External Communications on executive thought leadership, media engagements and other high-profile external opportunities.

Social Media & Owned Corporate Channels

  • Own CyrusOne's corporate social media strategy and governance across global channels.
  • Develop and manage the social editorial calendar in alignment with corporate priorities, Marketing campaigns and external communications.
  • Oversee day-to-day publishing, community management and engagement across CyrusOne's corporate social channels.
  • Develop executive social media programs and support leaders in building credible external voices.
  • Establish social media standards, approval processes and escalation protocols.
  • Monitor channel performance and develop reporting that measures reach, engagement and effectiveness.
  • Partner with Marketing's content and creative resources to develop compelling social and digital content.
  • Coordinate with External Communications when social conversations involve media, reputation, crisis or other sensitive external issues.

Corporate Content & Thought Leadership

  • Develop and maintain CyrusOne's corporate editorial strategy across executive, employee and owned corporate channels.
  • Translate company strategy, business priorities and complex industry topics into clear and compelling corporate content.
  • Lead the development of executive thought leadership in partnership with Marketing and External Communications.
  • Develop executive articles, speeches, commentary, corporate stories and other long-form content.
  • Own the strategic program for executive speaking opportunities, awards and other planned corporate visibility initiatives.
  • Partner with Marketing on corporate website and newsroom content, with Marketing retaining ownership of the website platform and broader digital experience.
  • Ensure corporate messaging remains consistent across internal communications, social media, executive communications and other owned channels.

Team Leadership and Communications Operations


  • Manage, develop and provide clear priorities to the Sr. Marketing Coordinator.
  • Build scalable workflows and processes that allow the Corporate Communications function to operate efficiently.
  • Establish clear ownership, service levels and intake processes for communications requests.
  • Partner across Marketing and Communications to maintain an integrated global editorial and communications calendar.
  • Use appropriate technology and AI tools to improve communications workflows, productivity and measurement.
  • Manage external vendors or specialized resources supporting Corporate Communications as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, internal communications, executive communications or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading enterprise internal communications programs.
  • Significant experience supporting C-suite executives and developing executive communications.
  • Experience developing and managing corporate social media strategy and channels.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and message-development skills across formats and audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business topics into clear, compelling communications.
  • Experience leading communications surrounding organizational change, significant corporate initiatives or sensitive business matters.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to provide communications counsel to senior leaders.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish communications processes, editorial calendars, governance and measurement.
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining willing to execute in a fast-moving, resource-conscious environment.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills and experience partnering with HR, Legal, Finance, Marketing and senior business leaders.

Preferred

  • Experience in data centers, energy, infrastructure, technology or another complex, rapidly growing industry.
  • Experience supporting communications in a private company preparing for increased corporate visibility or evolving governance requirements.
  • Experience with transaction, capital-markets or public-company communications.
  • Experience developing executive thought leadership and visibility programs.
  • Experience leading global or multi-region communications programs.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, social media management platforms, project-management tools and AI-enabled communications tools.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business; or equivalent industry experience.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Hybrid work schedule with regular in-office presence required at the Dallas headquarters. Some travel may be required based on business and executive communications needs.
