As Director of Corporate Development, you'll identify new growth opportunities, cultivate trusted relationships with physicians and health system leaders, and lead complex transactions that shape the future of our organization.

Working closely with physicians, health systems, executive leadership, and cross-functional partners, you'll represent Compass in the marketplace while sourcing, structuring, negotiating, and executing strategic partnerships that create long-term value for our partners and our organization.

Drive Growth. Build Partnerships. Expand Our Network.

What You'll Do

Drive Strategic Growth

  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of high-value ambulatory surgery center partnership opportunities across existing and new markets

  • Develop strategic outreach plans targeting physician groups, health systems, and other key referral sources

  • Identify and prioritize new market opportunities through data-driven analysis of physician alignment, demographics, competitive dynamics, and healthcare market trends

  • Exercise sound business judgment to prioritize opportunities, balance competing stakeholder interests, and focus resources on partnerships with the greatest long-term strategic value

  • Represent Compass in the marketplace, strengthening our reputation as the preferred partner for physicians and health systems

Build Trusted Physician Partnerships

  • Establish deep, trust-based relationships with physician owners, practice leaders, hospital executives, governing boards, and other key stakeholders

  • Lead consultative discussions that uncover partner objectives and align Compass's partnership model with their strategic and financial goals

  • Deliver compelling presentations that clearly communicate Compass's value proposition, investment philosophy, and operating model

  • Foster long-term relationships that support successful physician syndication, repeat partnerships, and continued market growth

  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the partnership lifecycle, creating an exceptional experience for prospective partners

Structure & Execute Strategic Partnerships

  • Originate, structure, negotiate, and close complex joint venture opportunities from initial engagement through signed agreements

  • Serve as the quarterback for each transaction, coordinating internal and external stakeholders, removing obstacles, and maintaining momentum throughout lengthy transaction cycles

  • Structure partnerships that align Compass's financial objectives with the long-term success of our physician and health system partners

  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, Operations, Clinical, and Executive Leadership to ensure transactions are thoughtfully structured, compliant, and successfully executed

  • Drive disciplined execution while maintaining visibility into timelines, milestones, and deal progression

Expand Into New Markets

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify attractive growth opportunities and support strategic market expansion

  • Build local market presence through regular travel, physician meetings, health system engagement, and industry networking

  • Monitor market trends, referral patterns, competitive activity, and physician alignment opportunities to inform growth strategy

  • Provide executive leadership with market intelligence, pipeline insights, and strategic recommendations that support long-term enterprise growth

Partner Across the Organization

  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy while managing a complex pipeline of opportunities and multiple transactions simultaneously

  • Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Legal, Clinical, and Executive Leadership to ensure seamless transition from signed agreement through implementation

  • Maintain accurate pipeline reporting and forecasting, providing clear visibility into progress, risks, and key milestones

  • Share market insights and customer feedback that influence enterprise strategy and strengthen Compass's competitive position

  • Align business development efforts with Compass's broader strategic objectives and long-term growth priorities

What You'll Bring

We're looking for a strategic corporate development leader who has successfully built physician relationships, structured complex healthcare partnerships, and driven enterprise growth within the ambulatory surgery center or broader healthcare services industry. The ideal candidate combines strong business development instincts with financial acumen, executive presence, and the ability to navigate sophisticated physician and health system partnerships from initial conversation through successful close.

Successful candidates will bring:

  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in corporate development, business development, healthcare strategy, mergers and acquisitions, or transaction leadership, preferably within the ambulatory surgery center, physician practice, hospital, or broader healthcare services industry

  • Proven success originating, structuring, negotiating, and closing complex healthcare partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, or other strategic transactions

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with physician owners, health system executives, governing boards, and senior business leaders

  • Executive presence with exceptional communication, presentation, and negotiation skills that inspire confidence and build long-term partnerships

  • Experience leading sophisticated, consultative sales and transaction processes involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities

  • Strong understanding of ASC operations, physician practice dynamics, healthcare finance, and transaction economics

  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to evaluate partnership economics, assess market opportunities, and make data-informed strategic decisions

  • Demonstrated resilience, persistence, and the ability to maintain momentum through long, complex business development cycles

  • Highly collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across functions while operating independently in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, MHA, or other advanced business degree preferred

  • Prior experience within a private equity-backed healthcare organization and an established network within the ASC industry strongly preferred
