Job Description:
Overview
MKTG Sports + Entertainment is looking for a Director of Creative Strategy to bring ideas to life at the intersection of sports, culture, and brand storytelling. You are equal parts creative thinker and strategic communicator — a writer who can create bold narratives, complex insights, and shape campaigns that resonate across audiences and platforms.
We are looking for someone who is not just an experienced writer but a natural researcher, knowledgeable about culture, and gets excited by organizing data to create a compelling story. You must be a credible C-level presenter in new business pursuits and have a writing ability that allows you to build impactful internal decks and global brand campaigns. We prefer agency experience. You will focus on client sponsorship in the sports space; therefore, we value sports experience and passion!
About You
We are looking for candidates with 8+ years of experience in creative strategy within sports, entertainment, or culturally motivated brand environments. You understand the power of partnerships, fandom, and cultural moments — and how brands can authentically show up within them.
You are:
Self-Directed – You excel in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can independently build strategic frameworks, priorities, and solutions rooted in sports and entertainment insights.
A Natural Leader – You have led teams within agencies, sports organizations, entertainment properties, or rights-holder environments. You excel at collaboration and developing the next generation of strategic thinkers.
Culturally Aware – You live at the intersection of sports, entertainment, culture, and creativity. You understand fan behavior, athlete influence, league dynamics, entertainment IP, and how brands can tap into these worlds. Sports experience or deep passion is strongly preferred.
A Strategic Communicator – You connect insights to strategy, and present complex ideas in ways that inspire. You are a confident writer, storyteller, and C‑level presenter with the ability to sell big thinking across sponsorship, partnership, and creative territories.
Curious – You energize yourself by uncovering insights, read cultural shifts, understand fan ecosystems, research trends, and turn data into compelling narrative structures.
