We are looking for a full-time Director of Data Analytics & Insights to join our dynamic team! This role will report directly to the SVP of Audience Growth and work closely with the Executive Editor of Audience Data and Analytics.  

The Director of Data Analytics and Insights will serve as the strategic link between audience behavior and affiliate revenue, with a particular emphasis on ecommerce performance from a publisher's perspective. This role is key in translating data into actionable business insights and opportunities for the company’s brands including Apartment Therapy, The Kitchn, Dorm Therapy, and Cubby. You’ll collaborate across departments to deliver high-impact insights, streamline reporting systems, and empower teams to make smarter, data-informed decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Connect the dots on audience behavior and affiliate revenue, with a strong understanding of ecommerce through a publisher’s lens
  • Work closely with Editorial Commerce Director on strategic insights, identifying new opportunities, and keep commerce stakeholders improved
  • Lead the charge internally for data and analytics best practices, advocating for systems that advance the company’s ability to distill and act on insights
  • Develop holistic lifetime value (LTV) modeling by various cohorts to inform content marketing strategies
  • Develop a deep understanding of key performance metrics for all departments and help connect how they affect each other, transforming cross-channel customer data into digestible insights 
  • Run performance marketing campaigns across Meta and Google to boost key performance indicators (KPI’s), as needed 
  • Maintain and iterate executive dashboard with high-level KPI’s 
  • Create projection scenarios for stakeholders to help promote growth in shopping and commerce efforts across platforms 
  • Manage a data catalog that helps stakeholders understand where to find the right insights for shopping and other reporting easily
  • Audit existing shopping/commerce reporting structure and recommend improvements to ease team efforts and improve presentation quality
  • Manage intake of dashboard/analytics requests, evaluating the best system for sharing requested info and where it should live
  • Work with editorial teams to synthesize commerce content performance into an editorial roadmap 
  • Streamline communication of insights within the organization

Qualifications

  • Experience in the media space, ideally working for a publishing company or agency
  • Experience in performance marketing 
  • 7+ years of experience in data and analytics
  • A deep understanding of commerce data platforms as well as GA4 and Looker
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Ideally familiar with email data analysis - familiarity with Sailthru is a plus
  • Understanding of A/B testing best practices
  • Excellent data visualization skills 
  • Ability to present data insights to non-technical stakeholders and visualize key trends
  • Strong listening skills, helping stakeholders identify information needs and data requirements
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with editorial, commerce, sales, and marketing teams, as well as senior leadership
  • Able to connect data from various sources to distill into actionable insights and opportunities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and agile digital environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights in an accessible and actionable format
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Compensation:

$100,000 - $110,000.

The above represents the expected salary range for this role. Ultimately, compensation is determined by level of experience and other job-related factors.
