Bluesight is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead and scale the engineering organization behind our portfolio of hospital pharmacy intelligence products. We help hospitals manage drug inventory, detect drug diversion, and realize substantial savings in drug costs — serving over 3,000 hospital and health system sites across the US and Canada.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who has scaled engineering organizations through growth inflection points, navigated post-acquisition integrations, and built the kind of high-trust, high-performance cultures that attract and retain exceptional engineers. You'll have meaningful technical influence across our product portfolio while operating as a key member of the engineering leadership team.
What you'll do
Lead multiple product engineering teams building multi-tenant, enterprise SaaS for hospital customers — owning the people, the process, and the outcomes
Build and sustain a high-performing engineering culture: develop engineering managers, drive accountability, and create clear paths for growth at every level
Partner with Product leadership to maintain technical health, manage delivery risk, and ensure products ship with quality and predictability
Drive cross-team collaboration — improving reuse, shared ownership, and alignment across engineering and internal platform teams
Mature our engineering practices: planning, architectural decision records (ADRs), documentation, quality, and engineering metrics (delivery, developer experience, reliability)
Own and manage cloud infrastructure costs at the team and product level
Lead or support integration of acquired engineering teams — setting standards, building trust, and accelerating time-to-cohesion
Participate in technical and architectural reviews, setting a high bar across your teams
About you
12+ years building enterprise SaaS products, with at least 5 years leading engineering organizations through growth — not just maintaining them
Proven experience leading distributed, remote-first engineering teams of 20+ through engineering managers; you lead leaders, not just engineers
Track record of scaling engineering organizations: hiring, developing managers, building career frameworks, and managing performance with clarity and empathy
Experience leading post-acquisition integrations — bringing teams into a culture without losing what made them good
Strong operator: you understand engineering metrics, can diagnose delivery problems, and know how to fix them without micromanaging
Deep partnership instincts — you build high-trust relationships with Product, Data, and Devops peers and know how to navigate tension constructively
Experienced managing cloud costs at scale; comfortable in AWS-first architectures
High EQ with a track record of leading through ambiguity, driving change, and saying no with clarity and respect
Exemplifies our core values: Get Stuff Done, Join Forces, Honor the Customer, Redefine Possible, and Have Fun
Nice to have
Experience with data-intensive or event-driven architectures (Kinesis, Step Functions, Serverless)
Familiarity with AWS cost optimization tooling (Cost Explorer, Savings Plans)
Experience in healthcare or regulated SaaS environments
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
