About this role

The Global Partners Office (GPO) is a client business group responsible for helping BlackRock deliver differentiated capital and strategic advice to a small set of the firm’s most sophisticated global clients as they look to engage more expansively and selectively with fewer providers.  GPO partners cross-functionally to drive client strategy, shape complex opportunities, and deliver the full BlackRock platform across priority relationships.

GPO operates alongside BlackRock’s existing coverage model, strengthening and institutionalizing C-suite connectivity and translating senior engagement into meaningful, large -scale commercial outcomes.

Role Description

The Director role is a senior position within GPO, suited for individuals who can operate with sound judgment across complex client situations, balance competing priorities, and drive progress across cross-functional initiatives. Directors play a central role in shaping opportunities, aligning the firm around client priorities, and ensuring disciplined follow-through.

For a select set of the firm’s most strategically important asset owner and institutional client relationships, the Director will actively cover client investment and decision-making teams. The Director will be responsible for both (i) delivering bespoke, senior-level coverage to these client decision-makers; and (ii) originating, prioritizing, and driving execution of new commercial opportunities from idea through delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial Ownership & Client Leadership

  • Own and drive commercial success across assigned GPO relationships, from ideation through execution, with accountability for conversion and sustained momentum

  • Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, priorities, governance, constraints, and decision-making dynamics to shape differentiated partnership opportunities

  • Serve as a trusted partner to client and BlackRock leadership, helping advance senior-level discussions and representing the firm with sound judgment and credibility

Opportunity Shaping & Execution

  • Partner with clients to originate, prioritize, and advance complex cross-platform opportunities, including strategic partnerships, co-investments (including two-way deal origination), bespoke solutions, and product co-creation

  • Lead end-to-end execution of initiatives via content-led project management, setting direction, sequencing work, and making trade-offs across competing priorities

  • Anticipate risks, bottlenecks, and escalation points; intervene early to protect momentum and quality

Platform Orchestration (1BLK)

  • Coordinate seamlessly across existing coverage teams, regional leads and investment teams to deliver the full BlackRock platform

  • Support the allocation of firm resources intentionally toward the highest-impact initiatives, ensuring clarity of ownership and accountability

  • Reduce friction for partners and senior leaders by acting as a central point of integration for complex client agendas

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and lead high-performing teams by coaching, developing, and elevating VPs, Associates, and Analysts

  • Create leverage by raising judgment, execution quality, and ownership across the team

  • Contribute actively to succession planning and the development of the next generation of GPO leaders

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience across capital markets, advisory, investments, or transaction-oriented roles with demonstrated decision proximity and ownership of outcomes

  • Deep asset class expertise, with the ability to lead senior client conversations credibly and exercise sound judgment across complex investment and portfolio topics

  • Demonstrated domain expertise in one or more core GPO client segments (i.e., global banks, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, or large public pensions), including fluency in their operating models, governance, and investment priorities

  • Proven track record of owning and converting complex commercial initiatives across multiple stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capability, paired with an advisory mindset and the ability to translate content into action through disciplined, end-to-end execution

  • High operating maturity, with the ability to prioritize, make trade-offs, and deliver outcomes in ambiguous, high-pressure environments

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing senior-level materials and engaging confidently with executive audiences

  • Prior experience leading and developing talent, with a clear commitment to building team leverage
