POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director, Enterprise Systems provides strategic leadership and ownership of MSD’s enterprise application ecosystem — including ERP,MES, MRP, PLM, etc.) — with accountability for driving business capability improvements, operational efficiency, and scalable digital solutions that support MSD’s manufacturing, commercial, and service segments. This role serves as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and technology delivery, leading a team that transforms business requirements into durable system solutions aligned with organizational growth objectives. Deep understanding of JDE, as well as other ERP platforms is required.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads enterprise systems roadmap development, partnering with business owners to identify capability gaps, prioritize initiatives, and drive continuous improvement in business processes through platform optimization and adoption of industry best practices.

  • Performs project leadership and management of all phases of solutions development and implementation.

·     Ensures staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

·      Builds and develops a high-performing enterprise systems team through strategic recruiting, structured onboarding, mentoring, and deliberate growth planning that cultivates both technical depth and functional business expertise.

·         Works with cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of information technology and assists in the training of other information systems personnel to improve their technical skills

·         Maintains safe and healthy working environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards; adhering to legal regulations.

·         Ensures that Enterprise System users are thoroughly trained on best practices. Ensures documentation of all systems related company knowledge.

·         Collaborates with Software Engineering for customer-business integrations.

·         Serves as a trusted strategic partner to commercial, manufacturing, and operations leadership, translating business strategy into systems investments and ensuring enterprise platforms actively enable revenue growth and operational scalability.

·         Diagnoses and provide solutions to complex issues in a timely manner.

·         Evaluates platform capabilities against evolving business needs, making strategic recommendations on configuration, customization, or platform evolution to close capability gaps without accumulating unnecessary technical debt.

·         Oversees the provision of end-user support within the JDE and other Enterprise Systems environments.

·         Monitors the enterprise systems landscape — including cloud migration paths, AI-enabled ERP capabilities, and integration platform advancements — and brings forward-looking recommendations that position MSD for long-term platform sustainability and competitive advantage.

·         Establishes and maintains a governance framework for enterprise system configurations, change management, documentation, and validation standards — ensuring auditability, compliance readiness, and long-term operational consistency across all platforms.

·         Develops the specification and configuration of ERP application enhancements.

·         Ensures that design documents are complete and accurate and that testing is appropriate and complete, business process procedures are accurate, and all configuration and validation standards are adhered to.

·         Specific duties may vary depending up on departmental requirements.


EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business discipline required.
  • A minimum of seven years of progressive experience with JD Edwards.
  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience with another major ERP solution.
  • A minimum of five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Certification in project management (PMP) is preferred.
  • Experience managing teams of functional and technical resources.
  • Experience leading large enterprise level projects.
  • Experience with ERP Distribution, Manufacturing, Inventory, and Finance.
  • Experience with international and multicurrency environments is preferred.
  • Experience defining and testing reports, interfaces, data conversions, and enhancements.
  • Experience defining and mapping business processes.
  • Experience with data warehousing for operational reporting is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted or SaaS ERP deployments, or demonstrated leadership of an ERP platform evaluation or migration initiative in a manufacturing or life sciences environment, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with PLM integration patterns (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill, or Aras) and their intersection with ERP and MES data flows is preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise integration platforms or middleware (e.g., MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Informatica) supporting application connectivity across ERP, MES, and CRM systems is preferred.

  • Excellent project management and time management skills are required.
  • Excellent resource manager with strong leadership skills.
  • Logical problem-solving ability and demonstrated ability to organize and move project tasks forward in an orderly and structured fashion.
  • Knowledge of the business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and test reports, interfaces, data conversions, and enhancements.
  • Demonstrated ability to define and map business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to write test scripts and conduct testing/training.
  • Possesses a proven strong analytical ability and willingness to innovate.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of financial data.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Business relationship management: demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships with senior business stakeholders and translate strategic intent into actionable systems roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
  • Change leadership: proven capability to guide organizations through system transitions, including stakeholder communication strategy, training design, and sustained adoption management that minimizes disruption to business operations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.


WORK ENVIRONMENT: 

This position is performed in a traditional office environment.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $151,400 to $236,600. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
