Position Description:
The mission of the Buffalo Academy of Science Charter School (BuffSci) is to provide services to prepare college students who are from a community not served successfully by the traditional education system. The Director of Information Technology (IT Dynamo / Tech Visionary) is responsible for maintaining our information technology systems and networks, performing technical tasks to develop and implement the school plan for instructional use of technology.

Primary Functions:
- Coordinate with faculty and staff to assess technology needs school-wide
- Ensure functionality and efficiency of computer and telecom systems
- Evaluate and maintain internal and host network infrastructures
Supervisory Functions:
- Directly supervise IT specialists and support personnel
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with school system policies and applicable laws
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the development and implementation of the school technology plan
- Institute protocols for the use of technology across all departments
- Organize and disseminate technology for school-wide instructional use
- Maintain school database and network systems
- Install and configure software and hardware
- Provide immediate on-site technical support and instruction to school personnel and students
- Work closely with school administration and faculty to identify needs
- Maintain school computers and labs
- Monitor system and network performance
- Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and data restoration
- Provide preventative maintenance and security
- Develop and administer backup/disaster recovery procedures
- Identify system-critical data to ensure sustained operations
- Provide systems analysis to ensure the needs of end-users are met
- Coordinate development and maintenance of network benchmark standards
- Update technological equipment
- Investigate, recommend, and advise administration on technology products and innovations, technology replacement, repair, and update needs
- Maintain accurate inventory of technology equipment and repair parts
- Maintain licenses and upgrade schedules
- Adhere to and promote the ethics of copyright law application
Skills:
- Leadership skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders for IT-related topics
- Specific skill-based competencies of IT systems and applications
- Proficiency with social networking software, content management systems, and website development tools, as well as applicable programming languages
Knowledge:
- Review and interpret highly technical information
- Understand complex, multi-step written and/or oral instructions
- Working knowledge of current information technology developments

- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
