Position Summary:
The Director of Information Technology is a strategic and operational leader responsible for the overall management, vision, and execution of the organization’s IT strategy. This role oversees IT Security, Software Development, Compliance, and Enterprise IT operations, ensuring that technology systems and processes effectively support business goals. The Director of IT provides leadership in innovation, risk management, digital transformation, and regulatory adherence while optimizing performance, scalability, and reliability across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop and execute the organization’s long-term IT strategy in alignment with business objectives.
- Lead IT governance processes, ensuring effective prioritization of technology investments.
- Build and maintain a high-performing IT function across security, engineering, compliance, and operations.
IT Security
- Oversee the development, implementation, and management of the organization’s cybersecurity program.
- Ensure continuous monitoring, incident response readiness, vulnerability management, and threat remediation.
- Lead security awareness initiatives and promote a culture of secure computing.
- Maintain compliance with relevant frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS as applicable).
Software Development & Engineering
- Direct software development efforts, including architecture, coding standards, DevOps, and release management.
- Champion best practices in agile development, CI/CD, testing, and quality assurance.
- Align engineering output with business needs, prioritizing scalability, usability, and performance.
- Manage technical debt and ensure high-quality documentation and lifecycle management.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure technology policies, procedures, and operations meet regulatory and industry compliance standards.
- Collaborate with legal, audit, and compliance teams to maintain evidence documentation and support audits.
- Manage IT risk assessments, mitigation plans, and business continuity/DR initiatives.
- Maintain data governance and privacy practices in accordance with applicable laws and standards.
- Oversee implementation of AI policies and platforms.
Enterprise IT Operations
- Oversee enterprise infrastructure including networks, servers, cloud environments, endpoints, and business applications.
- Drive operational excellence through ITIL-based service management, incident management, and process improvement.
- Optimize vendor relationships, contracts, and technology procurement.
- Ensure system uptime, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency across all IT services.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology trends and opportunities.
- Communicate effectively with business units to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement within the IT organization
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred) or similar industry or military experience
- 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including management of security, software development, and enterprise operations.
- Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and large-scale technology initiatives.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, risk management, and incident response.
- Deep understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, DevOps) and cloud-native architectures.
- Experience with enterprise platforms, networking, infrastructure, cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP), and IT service management.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards relevant to the organization’s industry.
