What you’ll do in the role:

Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Director, Lead Software Engineer in New York, New York to support key software applications and risk models within the Investment Banking and Global Capital Markets space involved in managing the firm’s lending business. Working on all phases of the deal lifecycle including business development, syndication, book building, allocation, trading, and portfolio and capital management. Build revenue-generating execution and analytics applications. Engage with business stakeholders and third-party vendors to understand requirements and design and develop complex software systems for deal execution. Develop and maintain innovative software solutions. Work closely with the Product Management and QA teams to deliver high-quality software deliverables and must be proficient in agile software development methodologies. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

What you’ll bring to the role:

-Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related degree

-Requires three (3) years of experience in the position offered or three (3) years as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or a related role

-Requires three (3) years of experience with the following skills:

  • Systems involved in Finance technology and deal servicing platforms;
  • Designing and developing data-intensive and real-time applications with a focus on scalability, multithreading, performance optimization, maintainability, and robustness;
  • REST and SOAP web services;
  • Full-stack development including Python and Java;
  • Using Spring Containers with Spring Boot for enterprise applications;
  • XML and JSON;
  • Container technologies including Docker and Podman;
  • FAST API;
  • Relational databases including Sybase, SQL Server, and DB2;
  • Non-relational databases including MongoDB;
  • Java multi-threading and concurrent package experience; 
  • Jenkins CI/CD pipeline implementation;
  • UI technologies including JavaScript, and Angular frameworks;
  • Developing REST APIs using Spring Boot and Open API specification;
  • Backend web development technology including APIs, asynchronous messaging, pub-sub based system, and cloud computing;
  • Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices;
  • Testing frameworks including Junit, Cucumber, or REST Assured;
  • Unix scripting and shell scripting;
  • Version control systems including Git;
  • Agile development and DevOps; and

Production and user support for the live system resolving issues.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $168,000 and $168,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
