JOB SUMMARYThe Director of M&A Integration will direct the post-merger integration of newly acquired firms. Reporting to the COO, this individual will be responsible for building and managing the integration process from pre-close planning to full operational alignment. The ideal candidate brings a structured, hands-on approach with strong project management capability and the ability to build trust across functional teams and with internal and external stakeholders.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Integration Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and maintain a standardized pre-closing and post-closing integration playbook

  • Collaborate with leadership during due diligence to evaluate systems, operations, and synergy opportunities

  • Assess the complexity of integration for each deal (e.g., IT systems, HR, compensation models) and develop appropriate plans

  • Understand key value drivers of the business and help build actionable value creation plans

Execution & Project Management

  • Serve as the single point of contact for all merger and acquisition integration pre and post project activities and timelines

  • Lead the diligence process, framing objectives and leveraging expertise to assist in each transaction

  • Lead and manage integration workstreams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives

  • Work with acquired entity leadership to deliver modeled/underwritten revenue and EBITDA performance

  • Ensure alignment across functions and practice and facilitate conversations, as needed, with key leaders on process improvement

  • Partner with key functional areas to facilitate pre-transaction planning and post-transaction integration processes

  • Collaborate and update stakeholders on the integration process, including schedule, budget and tasks

  • Lead integration activities for an acquired entity, including analyzing the operating model and collaborating on integration plans for business and back-office functions, building and maintaining a consolidated master schedule, driving teams to meet defined integration plans, and leveraging expertise in problem-solving to resolve highly complex and sensitive issues

  • Oversee the reporting and resolution of issues, risks and dependencies, identify potential planning gaps proactively, suggest mitigations to risks or actions to close issues or complete open items, and monitor and support acquired businesses to ensure a smooth and seamless transition post M&A, continually driving rapid growth and success

  • Assist the acquired company's management team in setting priorities, engaging appropriate resources, and navigating the operating model to ensure a smooth transition. Leverage the playbook to frame phases for acquired leadership.

  • Build and maintain a master integration schedule, providing regular progress reports to the executive team

  • Incorporate post-integration learnings into future M&A activities to drive continuous improvement

  • Conduct post-integration debrief on learnings, opportunities and improvements to the acquisition process

Culture & People

  • Personally meet with all acquired colleagues, including client service teams, to establish clarity and cultural alignment

  • Build strong relationships with acquisition targets’ owners and management teams to ensure a smooth transition

  • Ability to connect business and people processes across the organization and look downstream on any issues or challenge

Work environment

  • Work is conducted in a professional office environment with minimal distractions.

Physical demands

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Travel required  

  • It is strongly preferred that this person be able to work from a UHY office or at a minimum be located within approximately 50 miles of a UHY office

  • Significant travel is required (up to 40%). Must be able to attend business/prospect/client meetings which require overnight stays and use commercial air/land travel

Required education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, management, or related field

  • 5 – 7 years of post-merger integration experience

  • Proven track record managing integrating small to mid-sized companies across multiple functions

  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to link integration activities to value creation

  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and build consensus across diverse stakeholders

  • Proven cross-functional knowledge; familiarity with finance, HR, IT, and back-office operations

  • Technologically proficient in ERP Systems, Financial Reporting Systems and Microsoft Office products

Preferred education and experience

  • Master’s degree in business administration or relevant advanced degree

  • Post-merger integration experience within private equity-backed or founder-led environments

  • Experience within the professional services industry experience
