About Shapiro+Raj

Shapiro+Raj is the largest certified minority business enterprise insights and inspiration company in North America. Our mission is to help Fortune 500 clients find new and different ways to grow their brands in today’s continually reshaping landscape.

Our life sciences work sits at the center of that, on the decisions that determine whether a therapy reaches the patients who need it. We combine deep therapeutic expertise, behavioral science, and advanced technology to connect the dots between what people think, feel, say, and do, delivering clarity at the speed this moment demands. Technical intelligence handles the volume. Human intelligence delivers the strategic heft.

Stella, our pharma-native AI agent, was built by our own insights consultants and is a working tool for our teams. We expect technology to amplify our thinking, not replace it.

About the role

Directors at Shapiro+Raj balance leadership, strategic thinking, project oversight, and team development. They own both the quality of the work and the growth of the relationship it sits in.

Core responsibilities
  • Own the overall success of key life sciences accounts, including account plans and their delivery.
  • Lead highly complex, strategically demanding engagements with strong executive presence.
  • Be a primary, trusted thought-partner to senior client stakeholders, and widen relationships within each account.
  • Carry larger revenue responsibility and drive long-term account growth.
  • Lead proposals, business development decks, and capabilities presentations with VP+ leadership.
  • Handle escalations, including recruitment issues, scope changes, and sensitive client situations.
  • Coach Managers, Senior Managers, and Associate Directors, and build training and best practices.
  • Drive new offerings, methods, and thought leadership, and see them through to execution.
  • Support with business development.
  • Some travel required.
How the role works here

Directors are the reason accounts grow. They are present with clients throughout, not only at kickoff and readout, and they make their teams better at the work rather than doing it for them. Viable results and the strength of the people beneath them count equally.

  • Complex, strategic engagements led end to end across insights, research, or strategy
  • Pharma or life sciences commercial research experience
  • A record of winning new work and growing accounts
  • People leadership, both direct and cross-functional
  • Advanced command of qualitative and quantitative research design
  • 7-10 years in insights, research, or strategy, including at least 5 years leading people directly or cross-functionally
Helpful experience
  • Master’s degree + or MBA
  • Thought leadership: speaking, writing, or new offerings
  • Building training or best practices for a team
  • Using AI tools in research with methodological rigor
