Job Description
Director, Marketing - Coffee
The Director of Marketing for North America Mainstream Coffee & Portfolio Programs is responsible for setting the strategic direction and brand vision for Kraft Heinz's everyday coffee brands and formats, including the iconic Maxwell House brand. This leader will own full P&L responsibility for the U.S. mainstream coffee portfolio and collaborate closely with the Canadian team to drive a profitable, sustainable, and consumer-centric growth agenda. We're seeking a hands-on leader who acts as a true player-coach-comfortable diving into details when needed, but also able to step back and drive the bigger strategic agenda. You'll model an ownership mentality, flex between operational execution and long-term planning, and inspire your team to do the same.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute a compelling business and brand strategy for the North American mainstream coffee portfolio, with clear KPIs for market share, revenue, and profitability.
• Lead end-to-end portfolio management-including renovation, innovation, brand positioning, pricing strategy, and in-market execution-for both the U.S. and in partnership with Canada.
• Champion cross-functional value stream programs that deliver operational efficiencies, freeing up resources for brand investment and value creation.
• Act as a visible, influential leader with internal partners (Sales, R&D, Supply Chain, Finance, Demand Planning) and external stakeholders (agencies, retail partners), ensuring alignment and high-impact delivery.
• Leverage consumer insights and market analytics to inform strategy and drive continuous improvement.
• Build and inspire a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, consumer advocacy and coffee passion.
Success Profile:
• Demonstrated ability to lead both as a coach and a contributor - comfortable shifting between hands-on management of critical details and high-level strategic leadership.
• Proven track record of P&L management and business leadership within CPG or related industries.
• Expertise in brand strategy, portfolio management, and driving & managing cross-functional initiatives inclusive of steering capital expenditure projects.
• Strong analytical acumen; data-driven decision maker who thrives in fast-paced, matrixed environments.
• Exceptional communicator and influencer, able to advocate for the business across all levels.
• Resilient, pragmatic, and comfortable leading through ambiguity and change.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
• Future Planning and Brand Value Planning - 25%
• Executing Business Strategy - 25%
• Business Management & Forecasting - 20%
• Analyzing and Adjusting Business Performance - 15%
• External Perspective and Application - 10%
• Project Management - 20%
• People Development and Team Building - 20%
• Fostering Relationships with NA Stakeholders and External partners - 10%
Expected Experience & Required Skills
• Proven experience building and operationalizing business plans as a general manager, balancing growth and profitability.
• Demonstrated success in turnaround strategies, defining clear priorities, consumer value propositions, and brand vision.
• Strong ability to deliver results and lead teams in dynamic, fast-paced, and ambiguous environments.
• Skilled at identifying value drivers, making trade-offs across the full value chain, and driving end-to-end efficiency.
• Effective cross-functional leader and collaborator, able to influence at all levels and partner with Sales, Finance, R&D, Supply Chain, and more.
• Experience developing go-to-market plans and fostering growth through strong customer and sales partnerships.
• Passion for understanding consumers, with high curiosity for coffee trends, routines, and rituals (National Coffee Association interest is a plus).
• Entrepreneurial mindset-embraces change, complexity, opportunities and innovation.
• Experience leading inclusive, high-performing teams with a North America (US and Canada) perspective- a plus!
