About Redwood Materials

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2017, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

Director of Marketing

The Director of Marketing will drive the narrative, go-to-market strategy, and digital footprint across all business lines and will lead the small team responsible for executing it. Through strategic product marketing and intentional brand storytelling, this team will establish Redwood’s voice, presence and value across the most effective and impactful channels to engage key audiences and stakeholders including talent, investors, partners, customers, and influential voices.

The director will work directly with leadership and functional leaders, serving as the company's primary marketing voice and building systems that grow sustainably as the company scales.

What You'll Drive

Product Marketing & GTM Strategy

  • Develop and own the positioning and messaging architecture for each business line — recycling, materials, and Redwood Energy
  • Lead go-to-market strategy for new product launches, partnership announcements, and commercial milestones
  • Build audience intelligence: define customer personas, map decision journeys, and pressure-test messaging with commercial and BD teams
  • Own competitive positioning and ensure the marketing function stays ahead of its competitive landscape
  • Develop sales and enablement materials: one-pagers, pitch decks, capability briefs, RFP response frameworks

Brand & Narrative Architecture

  • Help set and protect the Redwood Materials brand voice, visual standards, and editorial POV across all channels and business lines
  • Contribute to the development of a company-level story that unifies business lines under a coherent mission and positions Redwood as the defining company in domestic battery circularity
  • Translate deeply technical work into clear, credible narratives for non-technical audiences without losing precision

Team Leadership & System Building

  • Build the operating system for the marketing function: editorial calendar, campaign frameworks, asset library, analytics stack
  • Establish trust and direct working relationships with product, BD, policy, and communications counterparts

Cross-Functional Integration

  • Maintain alignment with leadership on strategic priorities and emerging narrative opportunities
  • Partner with PR and communications to coordinate earned media, executive profiling, brand reputation and crisis response

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years in B2B product marketing, with at least 3 years leading a team or function
  • Deep experience in technical product storytelling — clean energy, advanced manufacturing, industrial tech, defense tech, or similar domains
  • Demonstrated ability to build and own full go-to-market strategy, including campaign execution
  • Strong writing skills – can draft an executive brief, a customer-facing one-pager, and a conference keynote outline
  • Experience marketing to enterprise procurement/BD audiences, government or policy stakeholders, and engineering talent
  • Comfort operating without a large team or big agency support

What Success Looks Like

Redwood's market position is sharper and better known among enterprise and technical audiences. Redwood’s channels tell a powerful and clear story of the company’s products, strengths and vision. The marketing function runs as a system driving strategic storylines and supporting company goals.
