The Director of Marketing will lead and execute marketing strategy, build a demand generation engine, and enhance company visibility within defense and AI sectors.
Tagup is a defense technology company founded at MIT that is redefining logistics superiority with next-generation AI. We’re growing rapidly and are looking for change-makers passionate about delivering innovative technologies to solve the most challenging problems in the world’s highest stakes environments. This is an exciting opportunity to engage in meaningful work that strengthens national security and contributes to the success of U.S. and allied forces. Join us in shaping the future of defense logistics for a safer tomorrow.
We are seeking a Director of Marketing, reporting directly to the CEO, to define, lead, and execute marketing strategy as a player-coach. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the entire marketing function. You will build a demand generation engine and partner closely with leadership, business development, and product teams to drive go-to-market initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll set the strategy while rolling up your sleeves to execute campaigns and build scalable systems that drive measurable growth.
What You'll Do:
- Define, lead, and execute Tagup’s marketing strategy focused on driving demand and increasing visibility for the company
- Build and mentor a high-performing marketing function, managing internal team members, contractors, and agencies
- Develop and execute multi-channel demand generation programs including account-based marketing (ABM), digital campaigns, events, and thought leadership
- Partner with BD and Product teams to ensure alignment across pipeline generation, campaigns, and customer messaging
- Develop content and brand assets that amplify Tagup’s voice across defense, dual-use, and AI communities
- Define, track, and optimize marketing performance metrics, delivering clear visibility into ROI and pipeline contribution
- Represent marketing in leadership discussions, shaping company-wide strategy and decision-making
What We're Looking For:
- 8–10+ years of B2B marketing experience, ideally in defense, dual-use, or AI
- Proven experience building and running marketing at an early-stage or scaling company
- Track record executing multi-channel demand generation programs; background in account-based marketing (ABM) and long-cycle enterprise or defense sales environments
- Excellent strategist and storyteller with the ability to craft compelling narratives for technical and executive audiences
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Hands-on operator comfortable creating content, running campaigns, and optimizing programs directly
- Track record as a relationship builder and cross-functional collaborator at the leadership level
- Adaptive, flexible, and resourceful leader who thrives in fast-moving, ambiguous startup environments
Compensation:
The estimated salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $200,000 annually. We strive to provide a competitive salary and benefits package that aligns with our employees’ experience and qualifications. Our primary objective is to attract and retain top talent, and we firmly believe in compensating our employees fairly for their invaluable contributions.
As a rapidly expanding technology company, we extend part-ownership to all team members through an Employee Stock Option Plan. Additionally, we offer comprehensive health insurance benefits, access to the company’s 401K plan, and foster a team-oriented work environment with regular company outings.
Why Join Us?
This is an exciting opportunity to come in at a pivotal moment and build and scale Tagup’s marketing function. You’ll shape the company’s voice, increase visibility, and create the demand generation engine that fuels our next phase of growth. As we scale, you’ll combine strategic vision with hands-on execution, driving initiatives that directly support national security and critical defense logistics.
At Tagup, you’ll be at the forefront of applying next-generation AI to some of the toughest challenges in defense and dual-use technology. If you’re looking to make a lasting impact, grow with a company on the rise and build something that matters, this role offers a unique and exciting path forward.
