ABOUT CATF

Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is a nonprofit organization working to safeguard against the worst impacts of climate change by catalyzing the rapid global development and deployment of low-carbon energy and other climate-protecting technologies. This is accomplished through research and analysis, public advocacy leadership, and partnership with the private sector. CATF is highly respected for its deep expertise and research on energy and industrial systems and potential strategies, technologies, and policies that can radically shrink their impact on the planet’s atmosphere. Our team of experts and advocates (and global network of subject matter experts and civil society partners) put this research and knowledge into action by designing and enacting public policies that drive toward zero-emissions. We also support policies and work directly with private industry to innovate in technology to make the path to zero emissions swift and affordable. CATF has offices in Boston, Washington D.C., and Brussels, with staff working virtually around the world.

  • Establish key performance indicators and optimize the marketing funnel—from awareness to engagement to conversion to long-term retention.
  • Manage marketing firms, consultants, and direct media buys — in partnership with other directors on CATF’s Communications and Marketing team.
  • Optimize marketing channels for major fundraising pushes, including Earth Day, Giving Tuesday, end of year giving, and other key inflection points.
  • Serve as an active member of CATF’s Engagement Leaders group, working across the organization to ensure a cohesive brand, marketing, and revenue strategies.

Audience Growth & Acquisition

  • Identify and refine target audiences based on segmentation, analytics, and insights.

  • Improve email marketing program to better segment, engage, convert, and upgrade donors.
  • Explore additional marketing channels, including direct text message, direct advertising, physical mailers, and more.
  • Devise programs to test content, messaging, and creative on all CATF marketing platforms to improve conversion performance at each stage of the funnel.

Engagement & Conversion

  • Build and scale effective engagement pathways (email sequences, landing pages, content personalization, automation) that nurture prospects and subscribers.
  • Collaborate with communications leads to translate climate and clean energy content into compelling digital experiences that drive action and influence – leveraging earned media, thought leadership, research, campaigns, and external recognition.
  • Support organizational events strategy and incorporate engagement into broader mass market strategy.
  • Partner with the Development team to align digital acquisition and fundraising with broader Development goals, projects, opportunities and philanthropic pipelines.

Stewardship & Retention

  • Design and implement strategies to deepen supporter loyalty and lifetime value through meaningful content, segmentation, and ongoing engagement.
  • Oversee analytics and reporting to measure retention, growth, value, and campaign performance across channels.
  • Drive continuous improvement through A/B testing, cohort analysis, and lifecycle marketing optimization.

Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Communications and Marketing, Events, Development, and Finance to align audience targeting, messaging, delivery, and accounting/data learning.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on the marketing funnel, digital best practices, and new and emerging platforms and tactics – including data analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence.

Skills and Qualifications

Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in digital marketing, acquisition, and/or revenue growth roles—preferably within mission-driven organizations.
  • Proven track record of managing full-funnel marketing strategies that drive measurable audience and revenue outcomes.
