We're hiring a Director of Product to lead the charge on data initiatives and consumer insights, using our data platform to develop world-class data products and insights that lead to direct business value.  This role is a leadership position, interfacing with some of our most impactful stakeholders and will support the growth and development of product leads within the data organization.

The Details: The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who can clearly express their vision and the path to get there.  This person is highly collaborative and thrives on partnering with others to make the greatest impact.  This person will also have a passion for Axios, an entrepreneurial spirit, and possess the following skills: 

  • Expert in determining a strategy and building a vision around data from a product perspective, in partnership with stakeholders and engineering leaders.
  • Strength in collaborating across technical and business teams to effectively leverage existing data sources, augment where needed, and improve the value of our data
  • Measurable experience in a leadership role where you have led teams, products, and directly managed other data-focused employees.
  • Past experience educating, evangelizing, and guiding on data-related initiatives
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Expertise in enabling consumer-centric metrics to determine success and inform growth opportunities (e.g. customer LTV, marketing funnel effectiveness, return on media spend, A/B testing, audience segmentation, etc.)
  • Experience evaluating and leveraging third party tools as well as customer data to develop audience profiles, cohorts, and integrate with marketing and sales tech
  • Preferred experience in media and/or with SaaS products
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to analyze large datasets to identify patterns/trends and apply statistical techniques
  • Experience with using business intelligence tools (Looker preferred, but not required)
  • Ability to present findings to all levels of the organization
  • Preferred experience with AI initiatives, testing, and rollout
  • Applied experience and proficiency with SQL 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong track record of collaborating effectively with colleagues 

In this role, you will

  • Use your agile skills to oversee the development and delivery of roadmaps and assure that your teams are working on what is most critical.
  • Partner with product leadership across the department to devise strategic means of growing critical audience data, deriving meaningful insights, and promoting self-service.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership within the data organization, to have a unified vision of the platform and necessary outcomes that the team can deliver against.
  • Propose impactful initiatives to deliver on the needs of the organization based on your expertise

Starting salary for this role is in the range of $180,000 - $220,000 and is dependent on numerous factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, and skills. This range does not include other compensation benefits. Axios' compensation philosophy takes into account cost of labor differentials across the country. Because this is a remote-optional job posting, this salary range takes into account all possible locations within the United States, but candidates will only be eligible for the salary range for their location.
